Chapter 102: The Interdimensional Task Force

And so, the two humans and one birdman "quietly" left the heavily surrounded city museum.

As for how they managed such a contradictory feat… While it seemed like the museum was sealed off from all sides, in reality, there were plenty of dark corners where one could hide.

For two Spider-People, finding these blind spots in the guards' line of sight wasn't difficult at all.

Peter carried the kraft-paper Vulture in one hand and regrouped with Gwen on a rooftop about a kilometer away from the museum.

Gwen had left briefly to say goodbye to her father.

Peter had already shared his plan with her—he intended to travel across different universes, recruiting as many villains like the kraft-paper Vulture as possible to form his own version of Task Force X (but not really).

The name Task Force X actually came from Gwen.

Since this world had DC comics and movies, and she happened to have seen Suicide Squad, the comparison was inevitable.

In essence, Task Force X was a team of imprisoned supervillains who were offered freedom in exchange for completing dangerous missions.

But in Peter's case, the price for their participation wasn't just freedom—it was their lives.

Their mission? To help him win the upcoming Infinity War!

The sense of déjà vu was almost overwhelming.

Even Peter had to admit, after Gwen's comparison, that it felt eerily familiar. But of course, he would never acknowledge it.

Task Force X?

Please. He knew full well that team was filled with deranged lunatics and ruthless criminals.

Sure, the villains he planned to recruit weren't that different, but at least he was a sane and rational leader.

Not to mention, a proper hero!

So, Peter decisively rejected Gwen's bizarre name suggestion.

After a significant amount of brainpower spent brainstorming, he finally settled on a name by the time Gwen returned from her visit home.

The Interdimensional Task Force!

The name was inspired by his own Spider-Man alias—The Spacetime Spider. It felt fitting, at least to him.

Most importantly, it didn't carry the same ominous connotations as Task Force X.

As of now, the Interdimensional Task Force had only four members:

Captain: Peter himself.

Members: Gwen, Ghost-Spider, and the kraft-paper Vulture.

Technically, Ghost-Spider wasn't in this world and wouldn't be joining anytime soon.

But that didn't stop Peter from giving special recognition to his first true follower.

"Where are we headed next?" Gwen asked, her excitement practically radiating through her mask.

It was clear how thrilled she was.

Right now, she was like a restless teenager, eager to escape a home where she felt unwanted—full of curiosity about the outside world, convinced that everything beyond her doorstep was better.

Peter smirked mysteriously. "I'm taking you somewhere good."

"Somewhere good?" Gwen's curiosity was piqued.

Peter nodded.

Then, he turned to face a specific direction.

Around his neck, he now wore two necklaces—one was the Spider-Panther Emblem, which stored the nanite particles for his Vibranium suit.

The other was the Eye of Agamotto, containing the Time Stone from the 616 Movie Universe.

However, since Infinity Stones only worked in their respective universes, the Eye of Agamotto was currently useless—just a unique-looking accessory.

But Doctor Strange, ever the strategist, had foreseen this and made special preparations.

Peter had discovered a message from Doctor Strange encoded within the Eye of Agamotto.

And embedded in the artifact were two mystical seals…

The first one was the previously mentioned "Spacetime Beacon." As long as he brought the Eye of Agamotto back to the 616 Movie Universe and activated the Spacetime Beacon, he could return to the exact moment he left.

No matter how long he spent out in the multiverse, it would always be the same.

This provided Peter with plenty of preparation time.

The second one was an activatable "Parallel Universe Gate."

While Infinity Stones lost their effectiveness in other universes, the energy contained within them was still significant.

So, Doctor Strange used the Time Stone as an energy source to carve the magic circle.

All Peter needed to do was inject quantum energy into the Eye of Agamotto, imagine the key characteristics of the world he wanted to reach, and the corresponding parallel universe gate would open.

It was practically foolproof—perfect for a magical novice!

Doctor Strange, the true legend!

Additionally, the safety factor was extremely high.

Without quantum energy, a normal person couldn't activate the Eye of Agamotto, even if they managed to steal it.

And since the Time Stone, sealed deeper within the Eye, was in a parallel universe, only Doctor Strange could use a special method to draw the energy to open the gate. Most others wouldn't be able to do that.

Peter injected energy into the Eye of Agamotto and activated the magic circle.

The Eye of Agamotto immediately emitted a brilliant beam of light.

This beam hit the ground in front of Peter and his companions, traveling about five meters before it stopped and began to spread out in all directions.

Soon, a shimmering spatial wormhole, like a mirror of water, appeared in front of them.

"What is this?" Gwen asked.

Peter stepped forward, explaining as he went: "This is a Parallel Universe Gate. On the other side of this gate lies another universe."

Gwen's eyes widened in disbelief.

Nearby, the kraft-paper Vulture's eyes also sparkled with a strange light.

He had been skeptical about Peter's claim that he could send him back to his world, but now, he was fully convinced!

This mysterious Spider-Man's abilities were even more impressive than he had imagined!

The kraft-paper Vulture suppressed all his doubts.

Meanwhile, Peter had already reached the front of the Parallel Universe Gate.

He turned to Gwen and the kraft-paper Vulture, gesturing toward the portal. "Are you ready for this interdimensional journey? Let's go!"

With that, he stepped right through the gate.

Gwen followed without hesitation, disappearing into the vortex.

Lastly, it was the kraft-paper Vulture.

He hesitated for a moment, then stepped through as well.

Swish!

Once the three of them vanished, the Parallel Universe Gate disappeared as well.

A while later…

Suddenly, another vortex appeared.

Out of it stepped a pregnant woman in a Spider-suit and a cold-looking man, also wearing a Spider-suit.

The two stood there for a while, and then the man took out a device and placed it on the ground.

What had just happened began to play back in the projection.

"The anomaly is gone??? And this world's Spider-Man is called Gwen Stacy, right? Who is that person? He shouldn't be there!"
