However, good times never last.
In that world, the Osborn Corporation discovered the mechanical Doctor Octopus and immediately recognized him as the supposedly deceased Dr. Octavius.
The technology that enabled a machine to possess independent thought instantly caught Norman Osborn's attention—he saw its immense value.
It was a technology that could potentially grant immortality!
As the saying goes: "Flesh is weak, but machines ascend!"
If a mechanical body could be implanted with human memories, wouldn't that mean that death would no longer be inevitable?
Wouldn't aging billionaires throw their fortunes at such a miracle?
Determined to obtain this technology, Osborn Corporation relentlessly pursued Mrs. Octavius, resorting to both coercion and temptation, using every method at their disposal.
However, what they didn't realize was that even Mrs. Octavius herself couldn't fully explain how she had managed to make the mechanical Doctor Octopus so human-like.
After all, the bio-mechanical technology she had mastered was still far from perfect.
Blinded by greed, Norman Osborn refused to believe her, convinced that she was deceiving him and simply unwilling to share the technology.
Thus, they plotted to assassinate Mrs. Octavius.
Her tragic death sent the once-rational mechanical Doctor Octopus into an uncontrollable rampage.
He became a true mechanical monstrosity, storming Osborn Corporation and publicly slaughtering Norman Osborn along with many of the corporation's top executives.
Just as he was about to wipe out the remaining high-ranking members, Spider-Man arrived, engaging him in a fierce battle.
In the end, Spider-Man defeated him, but after learning the truth, he chose not to destroy the mechanical Doctor Octopus. Instead, he took him to Horizon Labs, hoping to restore him to his former self.
However, before the process could be completed, the mechanical Doctor Octopus mysteriously vanished from Horizon Labs.
In reality, he had been transported to another universe—where he was discovered by Peter.
At the time, Peter encountered a mentally unstable mechanical Doctor Octopus. One moment he was calm yet sorrowful, the next he was furious and bloodthirsty—practically a cybernetic madman.
But for Peter, this was his first time encountering a fully sentient mechanical lifeform (Vision didn't count), which piqued his curiosity.
Besides, by then, Peter had already gathered several brilliant scientists from different universes, including Dr. Connors and Dr. Octavius from the Extraordinary Universe. They all needed an intriguing subject to study.
Thus, the mechanical Doctor Octopus became the first research project of the Interdimensional Task Force's science division.
After a period of research, they successfully resolved his issues and restored him to normal.
Surprisingly, the mechanical Doctor Octopus had no desire to return to his original universe. Instead, he chose to join the Interdimensional Task Force as an official member.
Moreover, he showed no interest in returning to scientific research—he opted to become a combatant instead.
Peter assigned him to work under Electro.
Interestingly, not long after, Peter traveled to another world—coincidentally, the mechanical Doctor Octopus's original universe—and even recruited that world's Spider-Man.
Now, that Spider-Man occasionally visits the Quantum Realm, either to check in on the mechanical Doctor Octopus or to chat with the other Spider-Men.
The quantum space of today is entirely different from its initial, rudimentary state six months ago.
Peter took the time to plan out the quantum space, using funds from companies he collaborated with across various universes to purchase a vast amount of steel. With it, he constructed a massive spherical structure.
This spherical structure was completely sealed. Peter even engraved magical formations on its surface using quantum energy and dimensional magic, ensuring absolute isolation between the interior and exterior.
Afterward, he meticulously purified the inside of the sphere, eliminating all foreign quantum energy and replacing it with his refined quantum energy.
With this setup, as long as they remained inside the structure, they could move freely without needing Peter to recharge them individually.
The sphere featured six enormous magical rings positioned on its top, bottom, front, back, left, and right, making it resemble a metallic soccer ball from the outside.
In reality, these magical rings functioned as automatic teleportation formations.
As long as Spider-Men on the other side activated the teleportation spell embedded in the magical artifacts Peter had given them, they could instantly transport here.
Each magical ring extended into a long passageway.
At the end of each passage stood a building.
This was the headquarters of the Interdimensional Task Force.
Beside the headquarters stretched a vast metallic plaza.
Several buildings were scattered across the plaza—game rooms for entertainment, bars for drinking and chatting, and even small inns for couples who hit it off, forming what resembled the early stages of a small town.
At a small table by the roadside, a Spider-Man held a drink with a straw. After several attempts, he realized he couldn't sip the liquid.
The Spider-Man next to him, from another universe, patted his head and lifted his mask slightly. "Idiot, how are you supposed to drink with your mask on?"
"Ah, sorry, sorry. I've been wearing it for so long that I forgot," the embarrassed Spider-Man scratched his head awkwardly.
"Ha!" The other Spider-Man chuckled helplessly. "Don't worry. We're all on the same side here. You don't have to keep your mask on."
At that moment, Doctor Octopus was using his four mechanical tentacles to restrain the limbs of a large, hairy spider-like creature.
"Yo, Doc Ock, where'd you nab this furry guy from?" A passing Spider-Man greeted him.
Doctor Octopus didn't even glance over, silently following Electro down the street.
"Hey, Captain Electro! Take me on your next mission, will you? My world's been too quiet lately, and my web-shooters are itching for action!" A Spider-Man grinned as he jogged up to Electro.
"Sure! Captain Peter is working on a public mission system. Keep an eye out for updates," Electro replied with an easygoing smile.
"Public mission?" Another Spider-Man perked up. "What's that? Some new idea from Captain Peter?"
"Not sure," Electro admitted with a laugh. "Guess we'll find out soon enough."
"Who's this guy?" A Spider-Man pointed at the creature restrained by Doctor Octopus.
Electro explained, "He's a Peter from another universe. He didn't gain powers like you guys—instead, he mutated into a spider monster. I brought him back to cure him before sending him home."
"Captain Electro, you're such a good guy!"
