Abyss's Point Of View
After agreeing on the story we would give our relatives, and the strategy plan for tomorrow, Mother and Father finally left my room. I plopped backwards onto my bed completely, and let out a sigh.
Today was supposed to be a fun and momentous day, but instead, it was the definition of nightmare fuel. I opened up my status plate and looked over my Stats. It was like the Gods had purposefully gone out of their way to spite me.
And if what the Gods said was true, then life as I knew it would end, again. Not only that, but if I wanted to have any sort of peaceful life, I would still need to deal with the 8 beasts no matter what.
I closed my status window and sighed again. There were no books on mana in our home. All the literature was about the history of the country, the history of our family, land and agriculture, mathematics, Merchant rules, Adventurer rules, Guild guidelines, and a wide variety of novels or poems.
I realized why after talking to my parents. The Magic Academy basically trains the citizens in the ways of magic and mana wielding. However, I was eager to learn now.
I decided to start with the easiest one to imagine. Having been from a mana-less world, we made fire from many different sources. I wasn't sure if there was a relevant chant that I needed to say, so I just started by picturing a small flame at the tip of my finger.
'Hmm... Let's see... Small flame, orange and red hue... with a bit of blue at the bottom where it burns the hottest... Something like... Oh, I know! A lighter!'
The moment I thought those words and imagined the image of a lighter's flame, a flame appeared at the tip of my index finger. I stared at it in amazement, and imagined the flame bigger.
It soon grew in size, and soon resembled a kitchen torch. After playing with the size of my flame for a bit longer, I decided to step it up a notch. I began to imagine a fire ball of pure blue flames in my hand.
It appeared immediately. I was so shocked by the size and bright blue flames, that I clapped my hands together to get rid of it quickly.
'Well... Looks like you don't need to chant a spell to cast the Magic here.... That's relieving to know... Now, Let's try Water next...'
Before I could invision any sort of water image, my door flew open at a startling rate. The force was so strong that the door slammed into the wall behind it, and became wedged in it. I looked up in shock, as my brother came barreling towards me.
"How did you do that?! How can you cast magic without saying the incantation?! What the hell makes you so damn special!?" He yelled as he jumped on top of me, while I was still on my bed.
"I didn't even know you needed an incantation! I just invisioned it and it appeared!" I yelled, trying to push him off of me.
"You're lying! That's not possible!" He yelled back, as he began to choke me.
"I'm... Not... You... Try it... Asshole!" I wheezed out.
"Why would I try something that I know doesn't work!? If it did, then there would be a fire ball in my hand right now!" He retorted, as he lifted his left palm skyward.
But just as he had held it up to prove a point, a small ball of fire formed in his palm. He stared at it in shocked confusion for a moment, before releasing his hold on my neck.
I coughed repeatedly trying to take air into my lungs again. My vision was spinning, and my chest felt like it was on fire. I looked up at my brother with a glare.
"That... Shouldn't be possible... What just happened? What did you do!? You put that flame there, didn't you!?" He yelled once more, before backhanding me across my face.
I couldn't belive his stupidity. I had basically given him a cheat code to Magic, and he was still mad! I was becoming increasingly annoyed at the idiot before me.
"Careful little brother, your eyes are turning orange. Heh-Heh... Do you want to kill me, little brother?" He asked, mockingly.
"I want you to grow up. I want you to stop with all your ridiculous jealousy and anger you keep building up, over things not my fault and that I can't change. I want you to stop being so damn annoying, every waking moment of every day. I just want you to stop being a major asshole, but I don't want you dead..." I sighed, exhausted.
"That will never happen! I'm going to make sure you regret being born, every minute of every day!" He declared, as he stormed out of my room.
'Hate to break it to you buddy, but I already do...'
I hated everything about this world. The food sucked, the Gods were annoying, the people were stupid, and I was physically 7 but mentally 25. There were no benefits to this life, except the Magic. But it wasn't a very good benefit, if you couldn't use it how you wanted.
The people were assigned specific jobs based off their blessings and magic power. If you were a creative cook, and were pretty decent at it, you couldn't become a chef without the God of Fire's blessing. It was truly nonsensical.
I looked over at my door, still stuck in the wall and sighed. Growing up couldn't come fast enough for me. Everyone would have a conniption if I left the house to wonder around on my own. No one would bat an eye if I was of age. Unfortunately, I still had 9 years until that happened...
'Haaah... I need a friend...'

The Dark Lord's Point Of View
I could hear the sounds of people having meaningless conversations, and the sound of the barrier between this realm and the mortal realm crackling. The magic that had kept me bound and imprisoned here was weakening.
Suddenly, I felt a cold chill run up my spine. Someone in the mortal realm was resonating with my mana. It was a peculiar feeling, one that I hadn't felt in centuries.
"Ah-ha-ha-ha! I told you, you could not keep me here forever! You stupid, worthless Gods! Who will you send for me this time, I wonder. I promise to send them back to you in pieces! Send all the precious heros that you can! I'm patient... I can wait..." I yelled at the top of my lungs.
Those ignorant Gods would once again know fear and despair. The world would tremble at the very mention of my name. My power would wash over this world like a great flood, leaving only death and destruction in its wake.
Those useless Gods would have no one to blame but themselves. Selfishly plucking people from their lives, and thrusting them into this world to do their bidding, until they died. Never giving them the chance to see home again. It was all so selfish.
And the stupidly happy and naive heros would swallow every word the Gods spoke and happily die for a cause that had absolutely nothing to do with them, were just as worthless. If they were so eager to die, I would gladly oblige.
I sat down on the ground of the empty Timeless void, and focused on the other mana I had felt earlier. It was decently strong, and eerily similar to my own. Like me, this being had all of the blessings of the Gods as well. He was no doubt promised a great many things, as long as he helped the Gods first.
However, upon further inspection, the boy didn't seem particularly happy about his situation either. In fact, the negative emotions surrounding him were a touch oppressive.
'Hmm? You seem rather promising, boy...'
I slowly attempted to resonate my mana with his, further. If we were able to link our mana, then I would soon be able to speak to him telepathically between realms.
However, in my eagerness to connect to him, I overwhelmed his mana with my own, completely severing the connection.
"It would seem his mana is not yet strong enough to match my own. He's either very young or newly summoned... How bothersome..." I lamented.
Though we shared a connection, I was only able to pick up on his elemental capacity and his gender. I could not yet see him in my minds eye, and that would remain the case until he acknowledged my presence as well.
If he was indeed young, then he wouldn't be able to perceive my mana nor my presence until he learned Mana Control. And in this world, the speed of which one learned about their magic and their control of it heavily depended on their wealth and status.
"As I said, I'm a patient man. I will wait for you my little fledgling... For as long as it takes..."
