Part 6

Cassandra looked somber as she passed by her mother's hotel. From the outside, the hotel wasn't that crowded; what surprised her was that there was a sign that read, "Sorry for the inconvenience; the hotel is under renovation."

"What else are they going to do. Do they intend to change the hotel? I can't allow this!" complained Cassandra. The girl then ordered the driver to stop the car.

Charles shook his head and held Cassandra's hand. "Not now. Don't be so rush, remember what we planned to do together!"

"But then!" exclaimed Cassandra, trying to prevent it, and Charles still shook his head.

"Cassandra, listen to me! Fighting people like them certainly can't be sudden. You have to use tactics. Make them complacent and convinced that they are the winners. We're like putting a live fish in a pot of water, then boiling it over low heat until it finally boils and the fish dies!" Charles exclaimed.

Cassandra just let out a long breath. "Fine, I'll take your word for it. Now what are we going to do?"

Charles glanced at Cassandra glanced at Cassandra and tapped the driver on the shoulder. "We're going to Milton's coffee shop!"

"Drinking coffee again? Don't you have anything more fun to do than drinking coffee? Or at least something productive?" asked Cassandra, who was still visibly upset.

Charles didn't care about Cassandra, who seemed to be objecting; he just responded coldly. "Watch me!"

"Huh!" Cassandra leaned her body, looking out the window to avoid Charles until they arrived at Milton Cafe.

"Do you want to stay here? In the car?" asked Charles with a slight grin as he opened the door for Cassandra.

Then, Cassandra was forced to get out and follow Charles into the cafe. When they had just entered, Cassandra immediately got one unpleasant surprise, a sign that read Jordan Wright and Vivian Hartley's anniversary.

'Anniversary? What the hell is this supposed to mean? My engagement to Jordan just ended a few days ago, and now they're celebrating an anniversary here? This makes no sense.' Cassandra thought.

"What are you looking at? A notice board showing your stepsister's anniversary?" asked Charles as he glanced at Cassandra.

Cassandra furrowed her brows before Charles and looked deeply at the young man. "Did you deliberately want to show me all this and humiliate me? You wanted to show me that you are the greatest man in the world and say that I should feel lucky to marry you. Is this what you wanted to tell me?"

Charles just shrugged, "It was you yourself who told me that I was a great guy."

Cassandra snorted in annoyance and turned away. She thought waiting in the car would be more fun than being at the cafe and seeing the betrayal that her ex-fiancé and his half-brother had committed.

But having only taken a step forward, Charles caught Cassandra's arm again.

"Where are you going? Are you going to be a coward and leave this cafe just because of their anniversary?" Charles asked.

"What do you think? Should I have fun joining their celebration? While they have betrayed me and tried to take over my mother's hotel?" Cassandra replied in a sobbing voice.

Charles rubbed his wife's face gently and looked deeply into her face again. "Cassandra, do you know something?"

Cassandra just looked at him serenely.

"There's only one thing Jordan and Vivian want. Two-faced people like them look so good on the outside but really they want you destroyed. If you show sadness in front of them or even fear then they will win. Do you want to see them reveling while you're here crying?" Charles asked as he looked deeply into Cassandra's face.

'What he said is true. Their goal is to destroy me, they want the hotel that should be mine. If I keep quiet or cry, they'll be happy.'

Cassandra slowly looked up and looked at her husband's face. "I'll try, can you accompany me?"

Charles didn't say anything, but he raised his arm ninety degrees while glancing at Cassandra. "Shall we?"

Cassandra wrapped her hand around Charles' arm and let him lead her to the second floor. She chose a seat near Vivian and Jordan's anniversary area. I don't know what Charles was planning this time, but Cassandra obeyed and tried to follow her husband's rhythm.

Just as they arrived at the second floor and intended to find a seat, Cassandra was surprised by Jordan's arrival, who was now stepping towards her. Cassandra gasped and started to get nervous, but Charles immediately rubbed her palm and calmed her down.

"Look who's here. I don't know who gave a woman who likes to have affairs the courage to show off her husband in public!" Jordan exclaimed suddenly, making her guests turn to her.

Charles and Cassandra remained silent and waited to see what Jordan would do next. Although Cassandra wanted to cuss out her ex-fiancé in her heart, she held back, waiting for the right moment.

Seeing this, Vivian suddenly approached the two of them. The girl looked surprised but tried to hide her surprise.

"Cassandra, I didn't expect to see you here. I was so worried after Daddy kicked you out of the house. I was afraid that something bad would happen to you." Vivian let out a long breath, showing how she was starting to panic, and spread her arms to hug Cassandra.

But at that moment, Cassandra immediately brushed off her half-sister's hug. "There's no need to be this formal Vivian."

Vivian immediately showed a glum expression and began to sob, looking for sympathy like she used to do at home. She would pretend to be weak to get attention and also have her wishes granted. Unfortunately, Cassandra had just realized this.

"Vivian, my sister. You don't need to show your tears like this, things like this are no longer useful to me. I won't be fooled by your tears anymore!" exclaimed Cassandra.

Vivian looked up slowly, "Why are you saying that. What did I do wrong when I was saddened by your departure? We grew up together since we were little, how could I not feel your loss when you left. I even tried to find you with Jordan. I tried to persuade him to forgive you and mend your relationship?"

Cassandra and Charles looked at each other, and both chuckled. Cassandra leaned closer to her half-sister and patted her gently on the shoulder. "Unfortunately, I'm not interested in mending fences with her. Even though I've been kicked out of the Miller household, that doesn't mean I like picking up trash."

Vivian gasped, "What... what do you mean by saying that Cassandra, I don't understand."

Cassandra smiled slightly, "Are you sure you don't understand what I mean?"
