Part 16

"Mr. Parker, thank you for being the guest of honor at this event," said one of the gathering participants.

This time, Cassandra was amazed by Charles. Her husband was suddenly a celebrity and surrounded by important people. Of course, Cassandra, who is beside him, is affected.

Tonight, she was flooded with compliments from people. Whether they were sincere or not, she was very happy. This was indeed her first experience coming to a gathering in white and immediately getting such special treatment.

"Mr. and Mrs. Parker, I'm from the Wilder Group, and we were hoping to invite you both to lunch," said a short man.

They both had to serve people who wanted to get close to Charles earlier. Moreover, in this event, Charles opened up opportunities for anyone to cooperate and get investment from him.

"Thank you ... thank you to all of you. You actually don't need to be this polite to us. I am a new person here, and of course, I need your help and support," Charles said modestly.

Despite his immense wealth, Charles has always been humble. He still considers people older than him to be experienced and should be respected.

But make no mistake: although Charles has a humble nature, this does not mean that he is a young man who is easily bullied. He will act at the right moment.

As they entertained the guests, his assistant suddenly came and whispered something to Charles. "What?" asked Charles in surprise. Then, he turned to his wife and let out a long breath.

"Cassandra, we must go out now; your family is making trouble again," Charles whispered.

Cassandra nodded.

"Sir, ma'am. I'm sorry, but my wife and I must leave immediately because we have things to do. Regarding my offer, you can send your proposal to the address my assistant will give you." Charles nodded to Liam, "Please take care of them!"

Charles immediately took Cassandra's hand and invited her to leave the ballroom to visit the Miller family, who had caused trouble.

"Huh, what have they done," Cassandra complained as she walked.

Meanwhile, in the parking lot, the Miller family was seen dealing with the police.

"No... that's not true. We came here to attend the gathering in white; we were regular guests, but these people had just canceled our invitation and kicked us out. It's not fair that you're arresting us!" exclaimed Geoffrey in defense.

"Right... you should arrest them! They are the ones who have hurt us. We should be the ones calling the police to arrest them." This time, Megan defended herself.

But the policemen laughed at their words. "Oh, so you're blaming the organizers and want to sue them?" the officer asked while gyrating his waist. Then he said," If that's the case, why don't you report the organizers to us and sue them? Do you really not have the ability to do so?"

"Ha ha ha, one more thing. How do you explain your threat to burn down this building?" asked the police as they glanced at Jordan.

Jordan looked confused and shook his head. "There is no arson here. You all saw that there was no fire?"

One of the police officers then showed the video footage of Jordan making the threats. The video appeared to have been taken by one of the men dressed in black, and the lighter was now in a plastic clip.

At that point, Jordan gaped, "It's all fake. That video was made by them."

But the police paid no attention to his words. They were now handcuffing the hands of Jordan and the rest of the Miller family.

This time, the police began to push them into the police car. But Vivian struggled again and said, "You are mistaken. My. My sister is inside, and her husband is an important person who is the guest of honor. If you trouble us, you will get into big trouble!"

Geoffry and Megan turned to glare at Vivian, followed by Jordan. Perhaps they were annoyed that Vivian had mentioned Cassandra instead.

"You can't just arrest us! We're not rioters here; if you don't believe me, just call my brother!" Vivian shouted.

"Vivian, what are you saying?" asked Megan softly.

"Mom, right now, Cassandra is the only one who can help us. Didn't you see that she got special treatment earlier? Cassandra or her husband has an important position here. Right now, we're just relying on her. Do you want to go to jail?" Vivian replied softly.

Then the blonde-haired girl looked around and saw Cassandra walking with her husband. Cassandra was holding a bouquet of lily flowers.

"There they are. That woman is my sister. Just ask her!" Vivian exclaimed as she lifted her chin towards Cassandra.

One of the officers glanced in Vivian's direction, turned to his friend, and asked for an opinion.

"Get them here!" said one of the senior police officers.

One of the police officers immediately approached Cassandra and Charles. The policeman asked them to follow him and confirm whether Cassandra recognized them.

"Cassandra, tell them that we are here to fulfill your invitation. Tell them that we are family. Let; let them know that right now, those people dressed in black are making false reports!" Vivian exclaimed.

"That's right, Cassandra, they have mistreated us and made a disgraceful spectacle of us. Ask them to pay for everything."

Cassandra was amused as she watched her family try to enlist her help. But this time, her gaze fell on her father, who was now looking away and refusing to see her. The man, supposed to be her first love, had too much pride to ask for help.

It was different with Jordan, who squinted at her like she was intimidating. He thought it was better to deal with the police than ask Cassandra for help.

Cassandra then turned to the police officers and exhaled, "I have nothing to do with them. If they did something wrong, let them take responsibility according to the rules. But if they're innocent, let them go!"

Cassandra turned to her husband, "Charles, I'm so tired. Can we go home now?"

Charles nodded and put his arm around Cassandra's slender waist without looking back. Miller's family members continued to chant his name then.

The police officer forced them back, "You have the right to remain silent. Any statement you make will affect the course of the trial!"

'Damn it! That kid really doesn't want to recognize us as a family anymore. He's done great, he is!' Geoffrey thought.
