Standing side by side, Nephis and Sunny stared into the open as a swarm of nightmare creatures emerged from the tear in existence. This time, Sunny had resolved himself not to get involved in needless battles. It was a waste of his essence and frankly quite unbecoming to waste his prowess on mere cattle.
Luckily for the world however, Nephis didn't share such a mentality. With a singular movement, Nephis leapt into the swarm of nightmare creatures before picking apart each one without much difficulty.
Sunny almost felt bad at leaving her on her lonesome to fight such harrowing foes, however leaping in to assist her would merely be an insult to both himself and the martial prowess that Nephis had cultivated her entire life.
Sighing, Sunny summoned the shadow chair before taking a seat. He had ordered fiend to create him a miniature mountain of snow which he could use as a vantage point to look down on all his foes, and as per usual, his noble shadow (despite his reluctance to acknowledge him as such) did so without much complaint.
As he boredly watched Nephis cut down foe after foe, a presence made itself known from behind him. It was Morgan. From what he last saw, Morgan had been severely injured by Mordret, with him taking off a large chunk of her thigh in the clash that they had.
Mordret being the more skilled of the two siblings wasn't unprecedented, after all, if the War God were to be revived in human form, it would surely take Mordret's form. But what Sunny hadn't expected was for the gap to be that large. Turning his head in her direction, Sunny offered Morgan a slight nod before turning forward to face the battlefield.
Morgan leaned against his shadow chair with a sigh, she too had not bothered to join the battle. Why would she? After all, she was preparing for the oncoming battle with Song which she had been rallying strength for. But still, Sunny could sense an impressed attitude about her as she watched Nephis continue her massacre.
"Aren't you going to help?" Sunny raised an eyebrow at Morgan's comment before shrugging. "If I wanted to, I would. I'd much rather fight something more humanoid compared to those rabid beasts below. Would you care for a spar?"
The hopeful expression that graced his features sickened Morgan as she turned her attention away from Sunny. Even allowing him to think such an option was a possibility after their last encounter was absurd. After all, who would want to fight someone who dug their hand into your intestines just to see the look in your eyes as you writhed in pain?
That wasn't human behaviour.
Soon enough, Nephis had finished her massacre. The tear in existence quickly closed as Nephis wiped herself off with a small piece of clothing while slowly making her way past the corpses of the nightmare creatures she had slaughtered. Thankfully, she had not been forced to use her aspect. If the situation was so dire that she would need to do so, Sunny would have summoned Saint to alleviate her stress.
Finally, Nephis was standing next to him, letting out slight pants of fatigue as she stared down indifferently at the corpses of the thousands of nightmare creatures she slaughtered. "You did well, Nephis." Sunny praised, Nephis responded with a small sigh before sitting in the snow next to Sunny.
It almost felt unfair that he got to sit gracefully on a chair whereas the two women had to stand next to him, recognition of that fact caused Sunny to conjure two chairs behind him allowing the two to sit.
"How are preparations for the upcoming war?" The question was abrupt yet welcome, Morgan didn't show her surprise that Sunny had access to such information visibly, simply responding with a smile that went unseen. "They are well, are you going to participate in the fight as well?"
A small smile graced his features as the thought of fighting a Saint flashed through his head, he hadn't killed one of those since his encounter with Solvane. "Well, I haven't killed an enemy Saint since I was an Awakened, so fighting one as a master is a welcome experience."
The indifference of his tone caused Morgan and Nephis eyes to widen. Morgan would never be the type to outwardly display her surprise at such a matter, but Nephis was much different.
"You killed a Saint as an Awakened?" she questioned, Sunny only nodded in response. Nephis sighed to herself as she remembered Sunny's odd habit of explaining his achievements in such a manner that they appeared as lies. But she knew better.
"After all, she was probably related to you Morgan, so I guess I should apologise for that. Ahh, I've killed too many descendants of the War God in my time to count!" Morgan's eyebrow twitched at Sunny's comment. If what he said was true, then Sunny had managed to discern heightened levels of information on the history of Valor without needing to do much digging himself.
But killing a Saint? Preposterous.
The three had their attention entrapped by another tear in existence arriving. Sunny stared at the thing curiously before an immense grin tore through his face like a chasm. In one moment, an arm grasped at the tear in existence.
In another moment, five more arms arrived. Pulling the creature out of whatever hell it came from.
Two horns protruded on the creatures head, six blades materialising from thin air as Connector stood indifferently, glancing around it's environment and taking note of the several deceased nightmare creatures that littered it's surroundings.
To Sunny's surprise, the thing had changed. Once a Fallen Terror, it had risen in Rank to becoming a Corrupted terror. In other words, since Sunny's last encounter with the vile field it had gotten stronger. And only to add icing to the cake, it's once removed hand had fully healed.
Nephis shifted, summoning a longsword into her hand as she prepared to face the creature in battle. Sunny turned around, a maddened grin settling itself across his features as bloodlust radiated from his body. It was so thick and immense; he continued to provide Nephis and Morgan visions of their death without even intending to do so.
Rising from his chair slowly, Sunny placed a hand on Nephis shoulder, the wicked grin never leaving her face. "He's not your opponent. I'm going to kill that bastard." In a blur, Sunny stood across from Connector, the two standing across from one another indifferently.
Suddenly, bloodlust poured from each of their bodies, colliding with one another attempting to overpower the opposing force. Yet they remained at a brutal stalemate. Grasping his hair, Sunny let out a chilling laugh, silencing all the lingering noise in Antarctica as he stared at Connector.
"You bastard, I lost men because of you! I'll kill you, no, I'm going to mangle you. I'm going to make you wish you had never existed in the first place you vile insignificant piece of shit. You're going to regret ever meeting me, now come! Let's kill each other!"
Yet to the surprise of everyone who spectated the battle, the two remained still.
