Chapter 12: Connection
Child actors with a nice portfolio and enough experience most likely had a good family background. In general, learning acting and building a career as an actor tend to cost some money. It isn't impossible for someone with a poor family background to succeed as a child actor, but it is a far more difficult journey that needs talent, luck, and endless perseverance.

Not to mention that sometimes good connections are necessary for getting roles.

In fact I also got my first role at the age of 13 from a friend of my dad who is a producer.

I used to take acting lessons as well, I stopped recently because I've been getting busier from school and acting.

The point is, I always have assumed that Song Tae-hyeon is a kid from some rich family that I didn't know of.

The puzzle pieces fit too well, I can't help but assemble it in my mind.

It was 7 p.m.

The first episode started.

It was an okay episode. It wasn't something I would applaud, but it is good enough to watch while having a dinner with your family. Maybe as something you put as a background noise just for that sake.

The good thing of being a kid is that you have a reason to leave early on these gatherings. I never really liked anything that doesn't concern acting, it felt like a waste of time, but sometimes you just have to blend in.

I avoided talking by pretending to be focused on the episode.

Sometime later, me and my mom went home. I was tired but it feels good to be acting again.

I've been reading 'The Time Machine' these days. I wouldn't say that it's to my liking, I avoided the Sci-Fi genre whenever I'm looking for entertainment, I don't even like watching dramas that involve time travel.

Reading the whole thing kind of gives you a sense of otherworldlyness. The book was written a long time ago and it was written about a faraway future.

I didn't think that the book was fun, but I could see why people could like it.

When you talk about things like the future or the universe, there is this sort of grandiose but detached feeling. It has its own charms in that sense. It's charming but it has never been to my taste.

After all, I would always prefer to go home and eat my mom's warm dishes compared to experimental food from a fancy restaurant. It made me feel warm in the middle of the night.

I returned 'The Time Machine'.

I thought reading it would give me some sort of revelation, but I end with more questions instead.

Does time travel require a machine? Why do I end in the past without doing anything time travel related? Did someone set me up? Why?

I also read a bunch of time travel theories like the wormhole stuff, paradoxes, time bubble, and so on.

Ah, it makes my head hurt.

Reading really isn't my thing. I had a hard time trying to finish 'The Time Machine' and those articles.

Maybe I should watch some documentaries or movies instead.

There starts my hunt for time travel movies.

I decided to start with the classics. At least classics that I can obtain. I picked up a foreign movie from the 80s, it was called 'Space Man from Pluto'.

The title nearly caused me to find something else, but after seeing lots of praise for the movie, I decided to rent it.

These days, it's probably better and cheaper to rent movies instead of buying it. Especially for movies you probably just want to watch one time.

It's been a few weeks since the first episode. Now I would finally see Yeon-gyeong on TV. She is cheerful and very involved with the people around her neighborhood.

It wasn't a bad introduction. I don't think people would hate her as much as they did in my past life. I considered monitoring the reactions for Yeon-gyeong on the internet, but I decided against it in case the reception wasn't very good.

I think next week they are supposed to air more of my scenes, especially the ones in the class. I don't know what would happen though, daily dramas are always unpredictable because audience is so.

I finished watching 'Space Man from Pluto', it was fun. It tells stories about family and the relations between people. The acting is a bit more dramatic, but I didn't mind it that much since it's done in a comedic way.

I also have borrowed more movies about time travel. Like 'Guardian' and 'Woodchuck Day'. Some are fun, some are not.

Although there is barely anything that can help with my predicament.

Now I am even more worried about things like butterfly-effects.

I guess I should watch some braindead romance drama to calm myself down.

I passed my days being really busy. Not only do I have to study and shoot, I also have to learn more about time travel.

Even though I think it's good for me to time travel, but this whole thing happened without a reason. It makes me paranoid.

I've been losing sleep and whenever I had extra time, I just close my eyes and sleep.

I don't even dream during sleep anymore. I guess I was that tired.

It feels good to be exhausted and earning money though.
