Chapter 13: Reception

Our drama has gotten pretty okay ratings especially for the start of a drama. It's been hovering around 32% until 35%. It's just okay for a drama broadcasted in a public network, since the 2000s were a time where public broadcasting is pretty much unrivaled.

.

The reception to Yeon-gyeong is pretty good. I heard from my mom that they might give me some more scenes. It's a good thing after all.

.

Soo-hyeon also told me that her family watched 'Spring Breeze' too.

.

"I told my cousin that I am friends with Yeon-gyeong in real life, he doesn't believe me."

.

"Out of everything to not believe, why is that the one?!"

.

"I know right that guy is an idiot! He believes all sorts of nonsense but never anything I say!"

.

"Hey! Yeon-gyeong-ah! I watched the episode yesterday!"

.

It was our class leader who said that. I think her name is Jin-hee? I glanced at her name tag. It is Jin-hee.

.

Some boy from our class also joked, "At this point I might accidentally call you Yeon-gyeong instead!"

.

It is nice to talk to these people. Most of the kids in my class seem pretty nice.

.

...

...

...

.

Getting more screentime means more shooting, which is great, and also meeting that Tae-hyeon kid more often, which is not unpleasant nor a good thing.

.

He looks out of it today, hopefully he'll still be able to act, otherwise it'll be a bit of a hassle.

.

In today's shooting, Yeon-gyeong will show her prowess in archery. It was already planned to include some montage of her doing archery before, but they have decided to include a bit more scenes surrounding archery.

.

I've been practicing archery, so it's enough to deal with the close-ups.

.

"Everyone get ready!"

.

"Camera! Sound!"

.

"Action!"

.

Today is a bright Sunday. Yeon-gyeong dragged Ki-beom to watch her doing archery.

.

"Hey! You should accompany me alright! It gets lonely over here."

.

"Alright," Ki-beom smiled.

.

Yeon-gyeong looked radiant as she skipped over to the field that was set up with a bunch of targets.

.

She set her equipment bag down and started to prepare.

.

Ki-beom watched her with interest.

.

This is such an unimportant scene. I guess people watch these types of dramas to just fill their evenings with some sort of entertainment. No one expects too much from these things.

.

Yeon-gyeong shot a few arrows. She even took a shot at an apple.

.

"Woah, how did you do that?"

.

"I've been doing this for years, I'm used to it. Wanna try?"

.

"Uhh okay, but I have never done this before."

.

"Don't worry about it, I can teach you."

.

Yeon-gyeong then started to act like a strict gym teacher.

.

"Straighten your arms! Don't hunch your back! Alright, now pull the arrow until it's next to your cheek!"

.

Kibum is struggling to pull the arrow.

.

Yeonkyung helped him pull the arrow further back, but he didn't hit the bullseye.

.

They laughed at eachother.

.

"Cut!"

.

Our gazes turned cold in an instant.

.

This kid has a promising future as an actor.

.

It's good that kid finally stopped doing surprise ad-libs. I just wanted to finish shooting this quickly.

.

We went around and shot more scenes. A scene of them walking home together, another scene of them eating tteokbokki, basically filler scenes.

.

I heard that Writer Kim is interested in developing the relationship between Yeon-gyeong and Ki-beom further, but I haven't heard much about it. Originally it's supposed to be kind of implied, but maybe something would happen now.

.

I hope my character would be done nicely.

.

...

...

...

.

It's been a week and I could feel 'Spring Breeze' getting more popular. Sometimes when students from different classes saw me, they had that squinting look you wear when you aren't sure if you recognized someone correctly.

.

I also kept getting autograph requests from my friends and relatives.

.

If it was like this for me, I wonder how the leads are doing.

.

We're reaching the halfway mark for this drama. I might as well enjoy this before the story got to a nasty turn.

.

...

...

...

.

I don't know why, but my scenes just kept increasing. I just shot a scene with Hye-jin eonnie*. Then I confronted Heo Sang-woo to treat my sister right. It almost felt too much you know.

.

It's as if I am squeezing myself into the main cast.

.

Is the reception for Yeon-gyeong really that good?

.

For the first time in a month or so. I decided to look up for Yeon-gyeong. Oh boy, there were lots of people talking about her in the forums.

.

'Yeon-gyeong and Ki-beom is truly the Spring in Spring Breeze.'

.

'Yeon-gyeong is so cute! I wish I had a daughter like her.'

.

'Today I'm waiting for Yeon-gyeong and Ki-beom's scenes.'

.

'The main couple is so frustrating! They are starting to get boring, they better give YeonKi couple more scenes.'

.

Wow, it was much better than I expected.
