Chapter 3

Aurora James - POV

"I think you should go and talk to Alpha Alonso, Aurora." Mom nagged, but I shook my head as I loaded the last suitcase into the boot and closed it. I turned around to face her. Her face was etched with worry, and I saw a tear drop roll down her cheeks.

I know it is almost impossible to go into the Blue Moon. Because that is the largest pack in the entire country and also the strongest one. It is said that not even the rogues dare to cross their borders.

"I will be fine, Mom," I reassured her. She walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. "I can protect myself, and you know that very well," I whispered in her ear as we pulled away.

"Don't get caught, Aurora. Be careful where you use it." She said in a cryptic tone, and I nodded my head. I walked to the driver seat, got in, and started the car. As I left my pack behind, I felt my pack bond stretch, and as I crossed the invisible border, something broke within me.

The mental barrier that I always have seemed hollow as I left my pack without turning back. As I moved towards a new chapter in my life, I felt a wave of apprehension engulf me. I have no idea what was in store for me, but I know there is no turning back right now.

Trees zoomed past me as I sped down the lonely highway as my mother's parting words rang in my ears.

"I will always love you, Aurora. Don't forget to call me every day."

It was hard to leave her back there, but I didn't want to drag her into my problem. The sun was setting on the horizon as I saw a signboard in the distance.

Welcome to Summerville.

A smile formed on my face as I passed that board, knowing that I had finally made it. I looked around my surroundings when I spotted a restaurant in the distance. I slowed down and quickly turned into the driveway and parked my car in the front.

The sky was pitch dark today, with the moon nowhere in sight as I got out of the car. A shiver ran down my spine when the cold breeze blew past me as I looked at the unique structure. The restaurant looked like a long piece of log, with the entire front wall done in glass.

There were a lot of wooden tables with a vase of wildflowers on them. The entire place was lit up with an orange glow, and there were fairy lights on the wall. I walked inside and walked towards the table with a cash register.

I tried to sniff the air, but all I smelt was human scent. "Hello, darling." An old woman greeted me with a smile on her face as she walked out from a door that was behind the cash register. "Are you new to town?" She asked me, and I nodded my head.

"This place seems empty. Am I here too early?" I asked her when she nodded her head.

"But don't worry, I will get you something to eat." She said when a smile formed on my face. "Why don't you take a seat, dear?" She asked me, and I nodded my head. I had been checking my phone for the past five hours, but I hadn't received an email from the Blue Moon pack yet.

And I will not be able to go to their pack if I don't have a confirmation letter. I opened my email one last time, and as I refreshed it, I saw an email pop up. I quickly opened it to see that it was from the Blue Moon pack.

We are happy to have you in our pack. Please meet Beta Zander Perez when you arrive.

A smile formed on my face as I closed the mail, and right then, the old woman brought my food and placed it in front of me. "Are you heading to the pack?" She asked me when my eyes widened in shock. "I am a werewolf as well, dear."

"I am sorry, I should have known. I have been a little preoccupied." I answered. "Yes, I am heading to the pack. I just got the email with the address." I told her.

"What is the address, dear?" She asked me as I showed her my phone. The warm smile that was on her face gradually vanished when she saw the address, she looked at me with a questioning look. "Are you a warrior?"

"I barely know how to fight, ma'am."

"Then why are you going to beta Perez's pack?"

"Beta Perez's pack? I thought it was a myth." I asked her. Yes, I have heard that the Blue Moon pack is divided into two packs. The bigger pack is where the pack members reside with their family and that is run by the Alpha, while the smaller pack is strictly for warriors and is run by the Beta.

"Myth? No, it is very much true." She said as I felt the blood drain from my face. There must be a mistake.

"So you are not here to train?" The old woman asked me when I shook my head. "You should go and talk to Alpha Lopez. I think there must be a blunder in here." She said, and I nodded my head.

I barely touched the food as I quickly got up from my place and paid the woman as I walked back to my car. I drove out of the parking lot and drove towards the main pack. Ten minutes later, I turned into a narrow lane, and soon, I was stopped by two warriors in front of a huge iron gate. "Do you have an invitation, miss?" the warrior asked me as I showed him the email.

"The beta's pack is further away from here."

"No, I want to meet the Alpha. I was not supposed to go there." I told him, and he gave me a suspicious look.

"Let me contact the Alpha," he said, and I nodded my head. I saw his eyes get cloudy before he came towards me.

"Alpha Lopez is willing to meet you. Drive down this road and don't make any turns. It would be easier for you to find the pack house with the signboards at the side of the road." the warrior said, and I thanked him as I drove inside.
