Chapter 20

Beta Zander Perez - POV

"I hate you," Aurora whispered when a smile broke out on my face. I don't think Doctor Jenkins heard this last part. There must be something going on between Alonso and Aurora, but right now, I am not willing to risk my mate bond with her.

I looked around when I spotted a small knife that was kept inside the fruit basket. I got up and took that, and walked closer to Aurora. I removed her oxygen mask when she began to gasp for air, but she was still unconscious.

I brought the knife close to my left wrist and made a deep cut near my pulse as I opened her mouth and let my blood drip in. As my wound was sealed close, I saw the pink hue come back to her cheeks, and I turned around to see that her heartbeat was gradually getting back to normal.

I placed the oxygen mask back over her nose unconsciously moved closer to her, and placed a kiss on her forehead. I walked out of the room and made my way to the front of the hospital when I saw the woman in the reception get up from her place.

Her lips are painted a dark shade of red, and the top few buttons of her blouse were undone, which showed me her cleavage. "Beta Perez." A frown formed on my face at her behavior as she waited for me to say something.

"Do I know you?" I asked her when I saw her smile flatter.

"We had a good time last week." She said, but I seriously don't remember her.

"That was a one-time thing. Don't get your hopes high." I told her in a dismissive tone when the hospital doors opened, and Adrian walked inside.

"I have been trying to contact you, but you kept your mind link closed."

"I was busy," I told him in a nonchalant tone when his eyes briefly moved to the receptionist as he shook his head in disapproval.

"Alpha Alonso is here. Alpha Lopez had something important to take care so he told us to escort him inside." Adrian informed me, and I nodded my head. We walked out of the hospital wing and made our way to the foyer when I saw three SUVs parked in front of us.

A few warriors got down from the last car and quickly came and opened the door of the car that was in the center. Alpha Alonso got down from the vehicle with an arrogant smirk plastered on his face. He removed his sunglasses and walked towards me.

"We meet again." He said as he extended his hand, and I took his hand in a firm handshake.

"Welcome to the blue moon pack, Alpha Alonso," I told him in an authoritative tone.

"Where is Aurora?" His question made my blood boil, but I didn't say anything as I led him inside the pack house.

Aurora James - POV

I scrunched my eyebrows as searing pain shot through my spine. Am I dead?

"We are still alive, Aurora," Lily said when I squinted my eyes open. I was in a hospital room, and various tubes were poking my skin. I moved my hand as I touched my stomach when I didn't feel any pain.

"We had wolfbane in our system, right?" I asked Lily because that was the last thing I heard the doctor say before I was out cold. My entire body felt stiff, but I didn't feel that excruciating pain I felt before.

Did they manage to flush out the wolfbane from my body?

I heard the door open, and my eyes automatically closed as the scent of oranges and cinnamon wafted into the room, making my stomach flutter. I opened my eyes when I saw Beta Perez walk inside with Adrian. "You are awake?" Adrian sounded shocked while Beta Perez stood in the corner watching me.

Something didn't feel right about him when I saw a faint smile on his face. A few seconds later, I saw Alpha Lopez walk inside, and he was equally shocked as well. "You are okay?"

"Why do you all sound like I was dying a few minutes ago?" I asked them as my voice came out hoarse. Adrian walked towards me and helped me sit up before he passed a glass of water to me.

"Because you were dying a few minutes ago, Miss. James." Alpha Lopez said. I expected him to smile at the end, but there was a serious look on his face.

"Maybe the medicines worked after all." Beta Perez said as he pointed to the IV.

"Whatever it is, I think I am happy to see you awake, Miss. James. There is someone who has come to see you." Alpha Lopez said when I heard a knock on the door. A smile graced my face when I thought that my mom must have come here, but the smile immediately faded as the person I hated the most, walked inside with a banquet of red roses.

"Aurora, I am so happy you are awake." He said in an excited tone as he walked towards me, placed the flowers on the table, and pulled me into a hug. I wanted to push him away, but he was too powerful.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him in a low tone as he pulled away.

"I am here to take you back home." He said it out loud as I shook my head. "I know I shouldn't have argued with you that day. And I am sorry."

"I am not going anywhere with you, Alpha Alonso," I said in a firm tone, but he shook his head. Just then, I heard someone knock on the door and Adrian went to answer it.

"The doctor wants to run some tests. Shall we leave, Alpha Alonso?" Adrian asked him, and he nodded his head while his eyes were locked with mine.

"You will come with me willingly, darling." He said when I felt my heart skip a beat.

For an outsider, this might seem like a cute encounter between mates, but only I saw the glint in his eyes.
