Beta Zander Perez - POV
Alpha Alonso has been insisting on speaking to Aurora since yesterday, but I wasn't ready to allow him near my mate. I have been trying to figure out what was going on between the two, and so far, all I heard was that Alpha Alonso was Aurora's mate. "Beta Perez?"
"Tell him that Miss. James isn't ready to see him yet." I asserted.
"But isn't he her mate?" Levi's question made my blood boil as I curled my hands into fists.
"I don't think so. Did you see how they behaved back at the hospital?" I asked him when a frown appeared on his face. "Miss. James isn't stable enough to meet anyone, and she doesn't want to meet him yet." I told him as I walked out of there. As I reached the ground floor, the front door opened, and Adrian walked inside with Alpha Alonso behind him.
"Beta Perez, Alpha Lopez suggested that it would be best if Aurora is close to her mate. It would help in her recovery."
"Don't worry, Beta Perez. I just want to stay by her side for a couple of hours." He insisted.
"Levi, show him her room," I said as I walked out of the pack house. I went to the training grounds to see that the warriors were busy training, I removed my shirt and walked into the ring when all the warriors stared at me in puzzlement.
"Beta Perez, I thought Gamma Acosta was conducting the training session today?" One of the warriors asked me.
"He is busy, so I will take over. Now, who wants to come first?" I asked as I crossed my arms, but none of them stepped forward. "Am I training a bunch of cowards in here?" I growled as I clenched my jaw and looked around, I could feel Ares at the edge as I pointed to a warrior and gestured for him to step forward.
I saw him gulp as he walked into the ring. "Beta Perez, I…"
"I don't want to hear anything. Now attack me." I told him as he briefly looked at the others before he launched towards me. I did a roundhouse kick and tackled him to the ground, but he was quick as he got up and flung his fist at my nose as I moved away at the last moment. I felt like I momentarily lost control of Ares.
Ares beat him to a plum till his nose was bleeding and his hand was twisted at an odd angle. "Beta Perez, you are losing control!" I heard someone yell when I pushed Ares to the back of my mind.
The warrior was soon taken away from the ring while I stood there looking at what I had done. I have only lost control like this once, that was on the day she left me for another man. "You almost killed him." I turned around to see Adrian standing behind me.
"He will survive," I said nonchalantly as I got out of the ring and began walking towards the pack house.
"You have never lost control of your wolf for years, Zander. What happened?" Adrian pestered as I kept walking, ignoring his questions. "Did she try to contact you or something?"
"This is not about her. I am just stressed about this latest attack." I said in a dismissive tone, but Adrian shook his head. "Where is Alpha Alonso?"
"He is with Aurora."
"And what on earth are you doing here?" I asked as my voice raised an octave.
"Woah! Calm down, Zander. They are mates, and it's all right to be alone." He reasoned, but I didn't wait to hear him say anything more as I marched towards the pack house. As I reached my floor, I walked towards Aurora's room when the door opened, and Alpha Alonso walked out.
A frown was etched on his face as he saw me near the doorway. There was a hint of anger swirling in his eyes as he walked past me. I walked inside to see that Aurora was fast asleep. The flower vase that was on her bedside table was on the floor, shattered into pieces, while the wooden chair that was next to her bed was against the wall with one of its legs broken.
"What happened in here?" I spoke out loud as I walked closer to her and caressed her cheek. I felt her stir as her eyes opened.
"Beta Perez?" She sounded puzzled as I retreated my hand and straightened my back.
"How are you feeling?"
"Tired. But the pain has reduced." She told me as she got up and sat against the headboard.
Aurora James - POV
Why does my head hurt so much?
"Elijah was here," Lily said, and the confused look on my face turned into a frown. Despite rejecting him as my mate, I can still smell his scent, and it seemed like he only left this place a few minutes ago.
"Was Alpha Alonso here with me?" I asked Beta Perez, and he nodded his head, but he didn't look happy about that. I looked at where he was standing, and at the broken vase and chair.
"What happened?" I asked him while an uneasy feeling began to settle within me. Did Beta Perez and Elijah fight?
"I want to know the same thing as well, Miss. James. Alpha Alonso was here alone when he suddenly rushed out of your room when I came upstairs."
"I didn't even know he was here," I told him, but his eyes wandered to the broken chair.
"Are you sure?" He asked me with a raised eyebrow. When something struck my mind. This can't be happening.
"Lily, did you do this?" I asked her.
"He tried to forcefully mark us, Aurora. I know you have told me to never use our powers, but I had to stop him." She reasoned.
"I must have dropped it."
"What about the chair?" He asked me, but before I could think of another excuse, Adrian walked inside.
"Alpha Lopez wants to see you."
