He had been cultivating in this tree trunk for the past week, and if not for his exceptional talent, he would still be stuck at the peak of the first layer with a full qi dantian. Yet even with his talent, he remained at the initial stage of the second layer, with his dantian barely filled to a quarter with qi.
Yasuo had felt that unlike his previous world and what he had already anticipated when he first started cultivating in his holy land, the qi needed to fill his dantian with each breakthrough doubled, and he needed even more time.
Not to mention, the spiritual energy in this world is thinner than his holy land, so his speed of cultivation wasn't that great, and he needed to absorb even more qi to achieve the same results. To make matters even worse, he felt most of the qi in this world is being sucked away in two different directions and he could barely retain a bit of it.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
Boom!
Suddenly, Yasuo heard footsteps of something walking through the forest, and given the sounds they gave, he felt that it was most likely a big beast. Not waiting to find out who the guest was, he circulated a bit of qi from around him into his meridians and activated his dark cloak.
'Please work,' Yasuo silently prayed; he didn't know whether his spell would function and was concerned if the spiritual energy was the same as earth, and he couldn't use any of his past world's methods.
Phew!
He breathed a sigh of relief when he noticed a hazy, faint, dark glow cloaking his body, making it hard to detect him. He didn't know why, but it appeared like his magic could work on any place except Earth.
Yasuo thought that it had something to do with how powerful the earth's universe was given the system descriptions but quickly brushed away those thoughts and concentrated on the matter at hand.
Without delay, he cautiously left the trunk and hid behind the tree.
Before he knew it, he saw a man clad in blue armor with fur poking out from the inside, slowly walking through the forest while occasionally stepping angrily on the ground, creating loud bangs. In contrast, his every step was identical to that of an enormous beast.
'Are these the inhabitants of this world? Scary,' Yasuo truly felt a bit of pressure looking at the man. He could tell that the man was using some kind of martial arts to walk through the forest with such loud noises.
Yasuo didn't know the reason behind it, but the strength of that kick was enough to notify him that he was several times stronger than him.
Swoosh!
Wasting no time, Yasuo vanished and, in the next moment, appeared right behind the man; thanks to his dark cloak, perceiving him with one's senses needed great effort and couldn't be done occasionally.
Subsequently, Yasuo jumped and grabbed the neck of the man from behind with both hands, but instead of choking him to death, he used him as a support and closed his mouth next to his ear, exhaling dark qi.
Soulrend Breath
In the blink of an eye, the man's body began to convulse violently as he clawed at his chest with all his strength," Stop, what are you doing to my body and qi? Don't you know who my master is!" He shouted in desperation.
Yasuo wasted no time, instantly flipping backward through the air to create a distance. He made sure the man didn't suddenly use his remaining strength to launch a desperate attack and take him with him.
Within moments, the man turned into a withered husk as he dropped to the ground, his face frozen in disbelief. Even in his last breath, he didn't know who had given this rogue cultivator the courage to go against them.
Yasuo wasted no time and instantly dashed towards the man's legs, grabbed him firmly, and carried him to the tree trunk,' He won't fit, a bit of a problem.' He rubbed his chin in thought; he didn't want to alert the people around the forest of his death so fast, or else things may get out of his hand.
The man he had just killed right now was a small realm above him, yet his martial arts were so formidable that they sent chills down Yasuo's spine. He didn't wanna imagine the people behind the man, nor did he want to think about it for now.
There was also one more issue. The Soulrend Breath he just used seemed to meet some kind of resistance midway, even if the person wasn't on guard against it, which is why he didn't instantly die, given his low cultivation realm.
Yasuo had a premonition that the stronger people of this world could easily counter him without even having to defend against his attack!
'Is it the frost qi?' Yasuo had a guess but decided to ignore that for now as he grabbed a nearby rock and smashed it on the man's waist, splitting him in half. Fortunately, he had no blood left on him as all of it was sucked dry by his soulrend breath, saving him a lot of trouble.
Clink!
'Hmm?' Yasuo heard a sound of something dropping as he lifted the man's upper half into the tree's trunk,' A token? Also, this light.' The token was glowing with an ethereal blue light, and a symbol of a sword was etched at its center.
Yasuo checked it out for a second before slipping it into his pocket. He had a more urgent matter to finish now.
'Another one?' As Yasuo was about to get the lower half and stuff him together on top of the upper one, he noticed a white paper coming out of his armor torso.
'Earthbreaker Stomp martial arts, fith rank.' Yasuo looked at the martial arts' name and rank in a bit of astonishment. He had heard of martial arts on earth and knew how rare a ranked five martial arts is.
But what shocked him even more was the person practicing such martial arts; he was merely a qi condensation cultivator and had no experience fighting.
But Yasuo didn't dwell much on the matter and decided to take the whole armor with him to wear and find another suitable place to cultivate.
