Finnding finny a husband

Very early the next morning Queen Matilda made her way to King Aldous's chambers, her elegant gown rustling softly as she moved. The guards bowed their heads and opened the door for her.

She found her husband seated behind his large wooden desk, his brow furrowed in concentration as he read the parchment in front of him. "Your Majesty," Queen Matilda spoke, "I wish to speak with you about a matter of great importance."

King Aldous looked up, his eyes narrowing slightly as he set aside the parchment in his hand. "Of course, my queen. What is it that concerns you?"

Queen Matilda took a deep breath before speaking. "It is about Princess finny, Your Majesty. She is growing older, and I believe it is time we consider finding her a suitable husband."

King Aldous's raised both his eye brows a flicker of surprise in his eyes. "I had not realized she was of marrying age," he said.

Queen Matilda smiled, her eyes gleaming with a pretense motherly love. "Yes, my dear. Finny is indeed old enough to be married. And I have given the matter considerable thought. I intend to find her a respectable family, one that will provide her with the security and happiness she deserves."

King Aldous's eyes narrowed slightly, his mind racing with different thoughts. He knew his wife, all too well. He was aware that she had never truly accepted finny, his illegitimate daughter, as a member of the royal family.

To not complicate matters, he decided to comply with the queen's decision. he nodded, "Very well my dear, I'll leave the matter in your capable hands, you have my permission to proceed with finding finny a suitable husband. I trust that you will choose a respectable family for her."

Queen Matilda's smile grew wide, her heart racing with excitement. She knew that she had to tread carefully, to ensure that her true intentions towards finny remained a secret. But for now, she was one step closer to achieving her goal.

"Thank you, Your Majesty," she said Bowing her head, her voice dripping with gratitude. "I will not disappoint you. I will find finny the perfect husband, one who will make her happy and fulfill her duties as a princess."

But despite her words, King Aldous couldn't shake off the feeling that Queen Matilda was trying to get rid of finny. He had always known that his wife resented finny's presence in the palace, and he suspected that she saw this as an opportunity to be rid of her.

As he watched Queen Matilda's face light up with excitement, King Aldous felt a pang of unease. He hoped that finny would finally find happiness in her new life, away from the palace and the danger that seemed to follow her everywhere.

King Aldous knew he couldn't trust Queen Matilda to prioritize finny's happiness. He knew that she would choose a husband for finny based on political gain, rather than the young woman's own desires.

He made up his mind to examine the family and the man that Queen Matilda chose for finny to marry. He would not let his daughter be married off to just anyone, no matter how respectable they seemed. He would make sure that finny's happiness was protected, even if it meant going against his wife's wishes.

Queen Matilda swept out of the king's chambers, a satisfied smile spreading across her face. She felt a sense of triumph, knowing that she had finally received the king's permission to marry off finny.

As she made her way back to her own chambers, her mind already racing with plans. She knew exactly what she wanted for Finny - a marriage that would remove her from the palace and prevent her from ever becoming a threat to her children.

Queen Matilda entered her chambers, where her most trusted handmaiden Alaira was waiting for her.

"Alaira , I need you to bring me a list of all the noble families in the kingdom who are not particularly influential," Queen Matilda instructed, her voice low and urgent.

Alaira's eyebrows rose slightly, but she nodded obediently. "Yes, Your Majesty. I'll have the list prepared for you immediately."

Queen Matilda nodded, her eyes gleaming with determination. She knew exactly what she was looking for - a family that was respectable enough to marry into royalty, but not powerful enough to pose a threat to her own family's rule.

Soon after Alaira left, Queen Matilda sent for her daughter, Princess Emily, and soon the young princess arrived at her mother's chambers. Queen Matilda smiled warmly as Emily entered, she patted the space next to her on the couch.

"Come, sit with me, my little goldfish," Queen Matilda said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Princess Emily sat down beside her mother, looking up at her with curious eyes. Queen Matilda took her daughter's hand in hers, her grip tight.

"I've found a solution to our little problem, my goldfish," Queen Matilda said, her voice low and conspiratorial. "I've decided to marry Finnian off to a family that has no influence in the kingdom."

Princess Emily's eyes widened in surprise, but Queen Matilda just smiled.

"I'll speak with the potential mother-in-law, and I'll make sure she's on our side," Queen Matilda continued. "She'll make sure finny's life is miserable in her new home."

Princess Emily's eyes gleamed with malice as she leaned in closer to her mother.

"Finny may think she's escaping us by leaving the palace, but she'll never be free from my clutches," Queen Matilda hissed. "with this marriage, I'll make sure she'll never be a threat to you ever again."

Princess Emily nodded, a sly smile spreading across her face as she understood her mother's plan. She hugged her mother tightly, excitement shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Mother," she whispered, before skipping out of the room and back to her own chambers to share the news with her friends.

Queen Matilda watched her daughter go, a satisfied smile still on her face. She turned to her handmaiden who had just returned with the list of the non-influential noble families.

"Ah, excellent," Queen Matilda said, taking the list from Alaira . Her eyes scanned the parchment, her gaze flicking over the various names. And then, she suddenly stopped. A familiar name catching her eye, a sly smile spread across her face.

"Ah, yes, found the perfect family, Queen Matilda murmured to herself. "The Wellingtons." She remembered a ball she had attended two seasons ago, where a woman had been buttering up to her, trying to curry favor. Lady Pamela Wellington had been her name, and Queen Matilda recalled being impressed by her obsequiousness.

Queen Matilda's smile grew wider as she thought about the possibilities. She turned to her handmaiden Alaira , who was watching her with a curious expression.

"Send a message to the Wellington family," Queen Matilda instructed. "Ask Lady Pamela to see me in three days' time. I have a proposal that I think she'll find...enlightening."

Alaira nodded her head in understanding. "Yes, Your Majesty," she said, before curtsying and hurrying off to carry out the queen's instructions.

The following morning, Queen Matilda made her way to the king's chambers, a determined look on her face. She found King Aldous seated at his desk, going over some papers as usual .

"Your Majesty," Queen Matilda said, curtsying low. "I have found a worthy man from a noble family for Finny to marry."

King Aldous looked up from the parchment he was reading with a frowning look on his face, "that was quick, I thought it would take you some weeks or months before you could find a suitable candidate. Never mind, which family did you choose from?"

Queen Matilda smiled awkwardly her eyes gleaming with hesitation . "The Wellington family. They are a respectable and noble family, and their son would make a perfect husband for Finnian."

King Aldous shook his head. "I don't think that's a good idea, my dear. We should find a husband for Finny among the influential families. Someone with more...power and prestige."

Queen Matilda's face fell and her composed smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. "Your Majesty, no mother would want Finny, the illegitimate daughter of the king, to marry their son. Everybody wants their son to marry a woman with a good background, someone who can bring honor and prestige to their family."

King Aldous turned to the queen in shock, and Queen Matilda could see the doubt in his eyes. She pressed her advantage, her voice taking on a persuasive tone.

"The Wellington family may not be the most influential, but they are respectable and noble. And their son is a good man, kind and gentle. He would make Finny happy, and that's all that matters."

King Aldous shook his head in refusal, "do not worry yourself about their opinions I'll find a suitable family and speak with them myself. I want to make sure my daughter is well taken care of."

Before the king could continue, Queen Matilda raised her hand, her eyes flashing with warning and anger. "No, no, Your Majesty. I wouldn't advise that."

The king's eyebrows rose in surprise. "Why not, Matilda ?"

Queen Matilda's voice took on a cautious tone. "If you personally intervene, it will make you seem...desperate and Weak. The family won't be able to refuse your request, but they may resent being forced into this marriage. And who knows what they might do to your daughter?" She taunted with sarcasm in her voice.

The king's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing. "What do you mean ?"

Queen Matilda's looked her husband square in the eye her voice dropping to a whisper. "They might make her life miserable , or worse...they might kill her. All so their son can remarry a 'proper' lady. Are you willing to risk that, Your Majesty."

The king's face paled, his eyes wide with alarm. He hadn't thought of that possibility. Queen Matilda's words struck a chord of fear within him, and he knew she was right. He couldn't risk Finny's safety, no matter how much he wanted to protect her.

King Aldous sighed, his shoulders sagging slightly. "Very well, my dear. I leave it in your hands. But make sure Finny is happy, and that she is treated well by her new family."

Queen Matilda's smile returned, wider and more triumphant than before. She curtsied low, her heart racing with excitement. She had won, and Finny would soon be married off to the Wellington family.
