His phone rang and Adaorah appeared on the caller ID.He beamed with smiles as he picked up his phone "Hey Beautiful,whatsup how are you ?" Jidenna asked trying to place the phone properly on his ear as he was putting his books inside his bag . Lecture has just ended and he was going home. "I'm good, please Jidenna I need your help with something, can you come over to my place, I'll make you lunch "Adaorah pleaded at the other end, her sweet voice like music to his ears."I like the sound of that, I'll be there in a minute" he said as he got into his car and drove out of the school premises. Adaorah was seated on her bed smiling as thought of what transpired last week flashed before her. She attended a wedding on Saturday with her Mother,her Father was too busy to attend,he was out of the country for a business meeting and would be back the following week.The wedding was the talk of town,a grandiose wedding which had man of caliber in attendance.Adaorah as usual was looking her best,her mother showed her around to her friends and people who came for the wedding"Nne lekwe nwam Adaorah,Ada obodo oyibo"and turning to Adaorah she would always ask"I hope you remember Aunty Amaka from our side" Adaorah would smille nodding her head frantically but deep down Adaorah has no clue who Aunty Amaka was.Even though she got tired of it anytime they went for an event,she saw it made her mother very happy and her mother boasted of her to her friends.After the parade was over Adaorah took her seat far away from her mother to avoid further showcasing.The bride and the groom had just made their grand entrance and the MC was welcoming guest.She was reading a book on her phone when someone tapped her and she turned to know who it was and a pair of beautiful eyes greeted her.She seems lost in the eyes as a finger snapped and she got hold of herself."Do you care for small chops , she's holding out the tray for you" the voice said and she turned to the Lady with the tray of small chops and picked one smiling and apologising for not noticing her presence."You seem engrossed in the whatever you're doing,mind if you share"She blushed as she took a proper look at the person seated beside her.A young man in his early thirties, handsome,dark complexion,with charming eyes and a contagious smile.His voice was captivating as he spoke to Adaorah.He introduced himself as Nonso Odili,a business tycoon and the first son of the Odili family,an influential family in their town.Adaorah was impressed and introduced herself"I'm Adaorah Agu,Chief Obi and Beatrice Agu's daughter,a student of Oxford University and the CEO of Ada's Closet,here in Lagos and in London, I've like seven branches in Lagos and four in London,also a make up artist with four make-up studios in Lagos and I'm here with my mom"Nonso's eyes bulged out at the mention of her father name.He never knew Chief Obi had an angel as a daughter.They talked about family, achievement and they forgot about the wedding they came for and went outside to converse better .They exchanged contact and their conversation came to an abrupt end as Beatrice came to find her daughter outside and took her inside as she went to present gifts to the newly weds.The wedding ended well as everyone went to congratulate the latest couple in town and gradually the hall became empty as people were leaving at the close of event.All through the drive home Adaorah was smiling as she was chatting with Nonso and her mother wondered what was amusing her but didn't want to pry.Their conversation lasted non stop for a week and he asked her out on a date the following week and waited for Jidenna to come so that she would break the news to him.She told her mother about it who was happy for her that at least she had a man in her life.A knock on the door brought her back from her reverie as she stood up and walked to her door, opening it she found Jidenna at the door and she jumped on him hugging him tight which surprised him as he let her down"Ok ok what's with excitement lady ?" He asked as he slumped on her bed." Give me a second"she said giggling as she entered her walk in closet and came out with two beautiful dresses in her hand as Jidenna looked on confused on what the dress meant for.Adaorah sat down beside holding his hand in hers as she narrated to him on her meeting with Nonso,how handsome he looked,his captivating voice and her date with him.For the first time in his life Jidenna felt pain in his heart,as the words rolled out of her mouth hitting him with so much force.A man of his equal was about to take away what he has been nurturing for years and he wouldn't let it happen.He didn't know how to pour his heart to know and how she would take it, Adaorah has been the only thing that has always made him happy.Every day his love for her waxed strong,he already broke up with his girlfriend but didn't want to tell Adaorah but he felt it was time to let her know how he feels about her."Are you listening to me " she snapped her fingers at Jidenna and noticed he was still seated on her bed"So I want you to help me choose which dress should I wear ...." Jidenna couldn't take it again,he swallowed hard breaking the ice"I broke up with Doris and it's because of you,I broke up with her because I love you Adaorah, I'm madly in love with you ever since we were kids,I was afraid to tell you because of your father,and also how you would take it, we've been friends for as long as we can remember but deep down inside I saw my future with you.I didn't want to waste Doris's time lying to her when it's clearly obvious that am in love with you and sometimes you don't see the signs Ada,and it's hurts me so much,but I didn't want to rush anything, just wanted to take my time and be a gentleman and wait for the right time but as you're going on a date with another guy,I didn't have a choice but to let you know how I feel about you and Ada I mean everything I say,I might not be your spec because I'm not that rich and handsome as you want and even if you don't accept me it's fine but I just want to let you know that I'll be here waiting for you whenever you have a change of heart and for the dress you want me to choose for you, anything you wear radiates your beauty and I will never love you less even if you think I'm crazy right now but just know that your best friend is madly in love with you and you can't compare it to any other person out there who claims they love you"He stood up and walked to the door,his head and shoulders dropping while Adaorah stood dazed, not believing her ears as Jidenna walked out of her room, downstairs and to his car as he drove out of the compound.
