Chapter One

How it all started

NARRATOR:I am Melisa Alexander.l am a single independent oman.I have a twin brother whose name is Melvin,our mother whose name is mirabel .She has gone through a lot in the hands of a man who calls himself my father. I and my elder brother Melvin watched our dad maltreatment our mom ,he beats her,he cheats on her,he treats her like a piece of rag , witnessing all this influenced me to do everything possible to be financially stable and never let a man ride on me and I achieved my goal , I am a wealthy woman. My mom and brother were and are proud of me, and now my mom and brother are on my neck to get married but I don't want to.

( Melisa is seen in the kitchen cooking then mirabel called her)

MIRABEL:(calling Lisa) Lisa! Lisa!

MELISA: Yes mum she answered (from the kitchen).

MIRABEL:(sitting) Dear come and sit down I want to talk to you about something very important.

MELISA:(sitting) I hope all is well?

MIRABEL: How can everything be well when you have refused to get married.

MELISA:(pissed off)wait a minute so mum this is the reason you called me? If there is nothing else I would want to leave.

MIRABEL:(Sadly) My daughter want me to die without seeing my grandchildren.

MELISA:(Calmly)Mom I get your point but I am not ready for marriage , by the way mom you will get grand children from Melvin ,as for me I haven't seen a man that I love.

MIRABEL:(Worried)You have been saying that since two years now.(Melvin walks in).

MElVIN:(Curiously)why is mom sad?

MIRABEL:(Sadly) It is Lisa, she don't want me to see my grandchildren before I die.

MELVIN:(To Lisa) Do What mom wants,she isn't asking for too much.

MELISA:(Rudely) Mom is asking for too much,I will get married when I want to (Walks out on them)

MELVIN:(To Mira) Brighten up I will talk to her .

MIRABEL:(Brighten up) okay.

MELVIN:(Going upstairs)Lisa! Lisa!( No response)

LISA'S ROOM

(Lisa is seen checking out a document on her laptop then Melvin barges in)

MELVIN:(Barges in) What was the meaning of What you did out there?

MELISA:(Concentrating on her laptop and not minding him) .

MELVIN:(Raising hisvoice) Are you not the one I am talking to ?

MELISA:(Frustratedly) what is wrong with you? Anyone that sees you like this would think that I wronged you not knowing that it is about my life that you are shouting about. It's my life so it's my life my attitude nobody opinion is needed so please get out of my room I don't need any distractions Chapter One

*AN HOUR LATER*

Melisa is done checking out her files,she then decided to go stay with matilda for the mean time.

MELISA:(Thinking aloud) its better i go stay with matilda before i do something everyone will regret. ( starts packing her things).

ONE MORE HOUR

She is done packing she zips up her bag and headed for her car.

Melisa is done checking out her files,she then decided to go stay with matilda for the mean time.

*OUTSIDE*

Melisa put her bag in the booth and abiut entring the car and driving out when mel-vin stopped her.

MELVIN:Where to?

MELISA :To matilda's place.

MELVIN: why?

MELISA:I need to rest my head, you and mum are frustrating me so i need to leave before i do something we will regret.

MELVIN: So you are running away from the truth right?

MELISA: Call it whatever you want all i want you to know is that i am tired of you and mom so guess what , i will get married to the next guy i come across . As for now i cant stay in this house any longer( get into her car and drive out).

*MATILDA'S PLACE*

MELISA:(Knocks) .

MATILDA:(Walking towards the door) who is there? (Opens the door) (smiling) hey sis what's up? Come inside.

MELISA:(Walks in and sit on a couch) .

MATILDA:(Closes the door and sits beside her) what's up sis? today is not saturday.

MELISA:(Sadly) Its my mom and bro.

MATILDA: Why dont you change your mindset about men and get married so mom and big bro would stop disturbing you.

MELISA: I can't change my mindset about men but i have decided to get married.

MATILDA: (Curiously) how will you cope?

MELISA:Sis, if you made up your mind to do something be rest assured you will be successful.

MATILDA:(worriedly)but this is marriage.

MELISA:More reason why you have to make up your mind else marriage will turn out to be hell for you.

MATILDA: If you say so. (calling tiana) tiana! tiana!

CHRISTIANA:Comes out of the kitchen. Yes ma!

MATILDA: (Pointing at the luggage) Take it to melisa room.

CHRISTIANA: okay ma(did as instructed).

MELISA:I will be in my room.

MATILDA:Okay(exit melisa).

*THE NEXT DAY*

Melisa and tilda are ready for work, they are sitted at the dinning about eating when lisa's phone rang.

MELISA:(phone rings, she answers the call).

ROSE:(Urgently)you are needed at ththe hospital now like now, now. It is the matter of life and death.

MELISA:(Standing up) i am on my way(hang up). (To tilda)i am needed at the hospital now i will see you later.

MATILDA:okay, take care of yourself.

MELISA:(heading towards the door) okay i will (exit lisa).

*AT THE HOSPITAL*

ROSE:(Approaches lisa as ahe walk in) thank God you are here, lets head to the theatre.

MELISA:(Follows her).
