Chapter 5

As I took my seat on the train, an indescribable sense of freedom and exhilaration washed over me.

It felt as if I was finally becoming my complete self.

No longer burdened by family concerns, unbothered by work studio troubles, free from placating an unloving daughter and husband.

My phone buzzed incessantly with notifications.

All calls and messages from Grace.

I didn't answer the calls, only glancing briefly at her texts.

I wanted to pretend I hadn't seen them, but she remained pinned at the top of my WeChat.

Grace was demanding to know where I'd gone.

Seeing no response, she then explained why she had clung so tightly to Garrison.

[Because I was close to him at that moment, and he was shaking all over. I had no choice but to help!]

I went to her profile and changed her status from pinned to blocked.

I casually tossed my primary SIM card into the train's trash bag.

Sure enough, I received no more calls from her after that.
