Mom glanced at me, then said sternly with a grim expression, "He's not here. Kellan hasn't been home in years. Why are you asking me now?"
Hearing my mom's anger, Grace instinctively wanted to argue, "No, that's not"
But she stopped herself and called Melody over instead.
"Hi Grandpa and Grandma, my dad's such a petty person. He had a little tiff with mom and just up and left!"
"If he's at your place, please let us know. Don't let my mom worry, she's got work to focus on!"
Since my mom had the phone on speaker and the house was quiet, we could clearly hear the voices on the other end.
A gentle male voice came through.
"Uncle, Auntie, this is all my fault. I shouldn't have gone to the Sterling family for New Year's, it made Kellan misunderstand."
"But mother and daughter are truly worried about Kellan. He's well into his thirties now, he shouldn't be throwing childish tantrums!"
It sounded like Grace pulled Garrison away, telling him not to say such things.
