Marriage Mess

After Mila and Grandpa Alvaro had left the living room, the next to stand was Delphine Montclair, who, without a word, picked up her clutch and turned to leave.

"Sister-in-law," Mrs. Clara ran after her, even though her husband was trying to stop her. "You're not going to let your son get married to a random girl, are you?"

Delphine slowly turned her eyes without looking at the woman properly. "If my brother did marry a random woman, why can't my son?"

"Delph!" Andreas stood up, ready to defend his wife with his last breath.

Clara stopped her husband by holding his hand. "It's okay, I'm sure Sister-in-law didn't mean it as an insult."

"You're right," Delphine nodded. "I meant it as much worse."

Mrs. Clara tightened her grip on her husband's hand, but a smile broke on her lips. "I'm worried about Zyran, that's all. You know he's also like a son to me."
