Chapter 10

They continued chatting online, to Trevor's happiness.

And so, Trevor was able to find out that Tina lived in the city just like he did. He was quite surprised by that because he'd thought the time he saw her was the last time.

She'd even been there for years even. The city of Nyne wasn't very big or too popular, but it was quite busy. And it was renamed about ten years ago because it was called New York City... It was nothing like the city and there's no need to have the same name when it was close by...

Lately, Nyne was getting more people moving in and doing business because of the mineral resources found. And that's one of the reasons Trevor moved here. And now he knew that he wasn't the first that he knew to move there and start a business.

Nor the second.

No wonder Andrew had his wedding there... He'd seen so many familiar faces at the wedding, too. He wondered why he never thought of asking what they were doing in the city.

He sat comfortably on his bed as he sent a message: What do you do? Like, your job.

She replied: I own a winery.

His eyes widened.

"What the fuck?" he whispered.

He'd never thought to ask her that question before, because he was trying to take in the fact that she was texting him.

But this news made him realize that he didn't know much about her anymore. The last time they were together, she had a job as a worker at his father's real estate business. When she left, he wondered where she went and if she was okay.

Seems like she was.

He asked: How did you get the winery?

She sent a message back immediately: My parents had a winery, so I came and took over since they put it in their will for me to inherit. The winery and the house was all they left me.

How did he not know all these? Trevor wondered.

All he'd known about her parents were the fact that they didn't see eye-to-eye in certain things and that's why she'd lived so far away. But now that she was back and all, he wondered whether they talked. He wondered what happened.

But he couldn't ask. It wasn't his place.

So he didn't ask.

He texted her something else: That's great. If you want, we could talk more about it. I'm curious.

She didn't seem offended as she replied: If you want, sure. As long as you return the favor.

He smiled to himself. He'd tell her whatever she wanted. He never did anything interesting or amazing. He was sure her life was more fun than his.

He'd also like to know more about that blond guy that was with her at the hotel he saw her. Hopefully, she'd give him an answer.

He was suddenly interrupted from telling her anything more when a call got in.

He groaned in annoyance as he saw a familiar name.

"What?" he answered rudely.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down, bro."

He rolled his eyes, his eyes staring up at the ceiling. "What do you want, Sam? I'm busy."

"How's your dating going? You haven't reached out to me to tell me anything, you know."

"Oh, yeah," he said as he remembered. "I went on a few dates."

"And?"

"They didn't go well, like I said the first time."

"Wow. You're either really unlucky or didn't put any effort," his brother said in response.

"Well... I'm talking to someone," Trevor said, pondering on telling him about Tina or whether to keep it to himself.

His brother was quite aware what happened between them and he'd been the one apart from Mike and others to comfort him. He probably wouldn't support him.

"Really? Who is it?" Sam asked, excitement obvious in his voice.

"Just some random girl," he decided to say. "We're talking about random things for now. We'll meet soon. Tomorrow or next."

"That's great, Trev! I hope this one works out and you like her," Sam said happily.

"Yeah," Trevor muttered. "Me too."

Well, he didn't need to be hopeful about whether was obviously going to happen. Or had already happened.

They talked for a bit about Coco and what's happening between them and Trevor couldn't help but be annoyed at his brother for not letting the woman know that he's not staying long.

God, his brother would never change, huh.

After the call, he rushed to check whether Tina sent any message.

She didn't.

So he did: Sorry, I got a call from my brother. I can't wait for us to see again. And yes, I'll return the favor.

Good night.

The day for the dinner came fast. Faster than Trevor expected.

He was nervous as hell, but he sucked it up. He was going to see someone he'd known for a long time. It's not like she's some sort of stranger or anything.

They'd settled on a particular restaurant. It was farther than he'd expected, but he didn't complain. As long as it was Tina's choice, he'd accept it.

It took him a while to drive from his house to the restaurant after taking his time to shower and dress up, making sure to scent heavenly before stepping out the door, too.

He came a minute earlier than the time they set because he wanted to wait for her. And he didn't want to be caught off guard by her in any way.

Last time they met, he'd tried his best not to look at her too much, so he didn't notice much about her, except that she was beautiful, of course.

But soon, he'd notice more. Because she'd be sitting right in front of him for more than just a few minutes. And they'd talk.

He really wanted it to go well.

He knew he should be following his advice to himself that he'd told himself a while back about her, but then again, Chase told him to get closure. He was going to get that.

The restaurant wasn't filled with much people. Probably because it was a bit expensive. But the place was beautiful and the smooth jazz that was being played was wonderful for the atmosphere.

It also added to the way he felt when he saw her, few seconds after hearing footsteps nearby.

It was Tina. She was dressed beautifully in a black, short, silky dress that showed off her shape. She had heels on, which added to her already tall form. Her hair was splayed on her shoulders and her eyes... They captured him.

"Tina," he croaked, removing his eyes from hers as he stood up. Or more like, tumbled.

She offered him a tentative smile as she noticed him staring hard. "Hi," she let out.

"Hi," he rasped as a reply, still trying to take all of her in.

Damn, she was so beautiful. How was he supposed to cope?
