THE MEN IN RED CLOAKS

The night air was crisp, carrying the damp scent of earth and wet stone.

Thania and I stood just outside, away from the prying eyes of the others. The courtyard was eerily quiet, save for the distant rustling of leaves and hooting of owls.

"I still can't believe Mother Olga managed to fool all of us," I said, breaking the silence.

Thania sighed heavily. "I always knew she was evil..I just didn't think she would be this evil."

I rubbed my forehead in frustration. Before I could reply, the iron gates at the far end of the yard groaned open.

We both turned, watching as Mother Olga strode inside followed by several men that looked around the yard like it was a sight to behold.

My stomach twisted.

I grabbed Thania's arm. "Who the hell are they?"

Thania's eyes narrowed. "I don't know, but one of them looks familiar."

I didn't like the sound of that.

"Let's follow them," she whispered.
