As the unknown black structure emerged from the spatial rift, the fissure itself became increasingly unstable. Its sudden appearance also caused the surrounding Lunatone and Solrock to react uneasily.
Solrock, in an attempt to reinforce its energy output to suppress the rift, began spinning at a greater speed. The synchronized rotation of countless Solrock stirred the valley's air, whipping up a powerful hurricane.
Tyranitar had initially been wary of the powerful entity that had suddenly appeared before it. However, there was no longer time for hesitation. Letting out a roar, it grabbed the small Larvitar and hurled it through the original cave entrance.
This action showcased the characteristic brutality of the so-called "Sandstorm Tyrant," yet it also carried the tenderness of a mother protecting her child.
Before Larvitar could react, it was flung into the distance, landing with a loud thud. Tyranitar winced at the sight—after all, this was its own offspring.
However, the dire situation left no room for sentiment. This was the best chance to ensure Larvitar's survival.
"So... what exactly is sealed behind that rift?"
The howling wind lashed against Maki, forcing him to brace against the rocky wall with one hand while straining to keep his footing. He turned to Tyranitar and shouted over the gale.
Though uncertain whether the Pokémon before him was friend or foe, Maki figured that his odds of receiving a friendly response were about as high as successfully purchasing a brand-new phone from an online scalper.
"Tyran!"
Tyranitar's expression was grim as it locked its gaze onto the rift. A localized sandstorm slowly formed around its body—an unmistakable signal to those familiar with the species: it was ready to give its all.
It then turned its gaze toward Dragonite. Although it had no idea who the newcomer was, the present circumstances left it with no choice but to entrust this stranger with the task at hand.
"If you want our help, first tell us what's behind that thing."
Dragonite nodded solemnly. The energy seeping from the rift wasn't just immense—it radiated a savage aura unlike any Pokémon it had ever encountered.
"Tyran."
In response to their questioning, Tyranitar simply shook its head. It had no idea what lay beyond the fissure either. However, for as long as Mt. Moon had existed, this spatial rift would appear at this time each year.
Every time, the combined efforts of Lunatone and Solrock had barely managed to keep it suppressed. And once this day passed, the rift would vanish entirely as if it had never existed.
Yet, for some reason, their power had grown increasingly ineffective in recent years.
To put it diplomatically, Tyranitar reasoned that after today, things in this area probably couldn't get much worse.
While it was certain the rift must not be allowed to open completely, it had no knowledge of what exactly was on the other side.
Maki glanced at the sky. Although the valley walls were high, flying out was still a viable option. That meant he could leave right now with Dragonite—there was no need to get involved in this mess.
BOOM!!
A deafening explosion suddenly echoed through the valley, forcing Maki to cover his ears.
"Dragonite!" Maki yelled at the top of his lungs, worried that his partner wouldn't hear him over the roar. Understanding immediately, Dragonite flapped its wings gently.
The raging winds were nothing in the face of Dragonite's strength. Air currents swirled in a controlled pattern around its body as Maki leaped onto its back without hesitation.
Sorry, but he was out of here.
When it came to interdimensional anomalies, the first things that came to Maki's mind were Giratina and Ultra Wormholes. There was no need to elaborate on Giratina—if it actually appeared here, sticking around would be nothing short of suicide. There was no way his father's Dragonite could take on the Renegade Pokémon.
Even escaping successfully would depend on whether Arceus had done a good job sealing Giratina away.
As for Ultra Wormholes, the Ultra Beasts that emerged from them were anything but pushovers. It was best to get far away while he still had the chance.
As for Tyranitar and Larvitar?
Sorry, but he wasn't sticking around for them either. That promise to help? Pure courtesy. They weren't exactly best friends.
Goodbye! And good luck!
The roaring sound was coming from the altar's direction—the spatial rift was expanding once more!
What had initially appeared as a single black tube now revealed itself to be just a small part of a much larger body. As the rift widened, more of the entity's features became visible.
Eight similar black appendages extended outward, forming a structure reminiscent of a propulsion system, with a golden opening at its center.
Now airborne, Maki caught sight of this and immediately ruled out the possibility of it being some sort of rocket or man-made technology. The emerging form was more than enough to confirm its identity.
An Ultra Beast—Celesteela!
At this point, the Lunatone and Solrock alone could no longer contain the situation. A powerful energy pulse radiated from the rift like rippling water, scattering the nearby Pokémon.
Seeing this unfold only strengthened Maki's resolve to flee. He patted Dragonite's back, signaling it to pick up the pace.
However, the Lunatone and Solrock, now blasted away by the energy shockwave, were thrown outward—right into Dragonite's flight path, becoming an unexpected obstacle.
And then, something even more unexpected occurred.
The spatial rift, which had expanded to nearly three meters in diameter, suddenly vanished. The portion of Celesteela's arm that had emerged was also sucked back in.
Before either Tyranitar or Maki could breathe a sigh of relief, a beam of violet light erupted from the altar's center. In the skies above the valley, a swirling, multicolored gateway took shape.
An Ultra Wormhole!
There was no time to ponder why an Ultra Wormhole—something typically found in Alola—had manifested in Kanto. The wormhole itself wasn't large, but the area around it was riddled with spatial distortions, covering the entire valley.
If Dragonite were alone, it might have been confident in flying straight through. But with Maki on its back, ensuring his safety was a different matter altogether.
Getting caught in one of those distortions wouldn't just mean death—it would mean total annihilation, leaving nothing behind.
As the Ultra Wormhole fully stabilized, the entity within it finally emerged.
Celesteela!!!
