Chapter 13

The day of departure finally arrived—Friday, the moment I would bid farewell to Maxwell and the only home I'd ever known. As night fell, I stood at the pack's edge at nine o'clock, a mix of excitement and worry churning inside me. I wasn't sure how many would join me, if any, but I remained hopeful.

Shortly after, I spotted Beta Gabriel approaching with a small group. Feeling thankful, I stepped forward to greet them.

"Beta, I'm surprised to see you here," I said with a slight smile.

He responded firmly, "I sensed the honesty in your words, Evelyn. That's why I came."

I nodded, acknowledging him and the others present.

As the hour struck ten, more groups arrived—elders, healers, and various pack members.

I surveyed the small gathering, scanning their faces. "Let's wait a bit longer, in case others decide to come," I suggested.
