Chapter 11

"I know I was wrong, terribly wrong. If you're willing to give me a chance to make amends, I can leave everything behind here. We can go away together, to a place where the Carlisle family can't find us, and start over."

"As long as we're together, eventually we can—"

I didn't let him finish, prying his words apart.

I interrupted him.

"No need."

"Nolan, we're done."

"Isn't this what you came after me to hear? Now I'm telling you, I won't go with you, and I won't be with you again."

Nolan's eyes reddened.

His gaze was filled with heartbreak and hurt.

"I can explain about Delia. Please, give me a chance. I truly know I was wrong."

I wiped the blood from his forehead.

My voice was so emotionless it was impossible to detect any feeling.

"Wrong? What can that change? Can it bring back my child?"

"Or can it turn back time?"

"We're both adults now. Some things don't need to be spelled out so clearly."

"It's better to stay a little confused and just go on like this."
