Isabella’s POV
There was a ringing in my ears, and my vision blurred for a moment. It felt as if a bomb had gone off in my head.
“What did you just say?” I mumbled through trembling lips.
“Look, I don’t know much more than that, I couldn’t hear everything—”
My body moved on instinct, fuelled by desperation and pure rage. Before I knew what was happening, I had James by the collar in a chokehold.
I leaned in close, and the fact that he was still seated gave me a height advantage.
“Listen to me very closely, James Patterson,” I whispered in a cold, biting tone. “If anything happens to Ethan, I’ll bury you so far beneath the social ladder you’re trying to climb that your soul won’t be able to dig its way out to be reincarnated.”
Anger blazed in his green eyes as he glared at me. “All I know is that they mentioned setting up enough gasoline and explosives to stage an accidental fire,” he muttered through clenched teeth.
“When?”
“I. Don’t. Know,” he gritted out.
