After some consideration, I nodded in agreement.

That day, the experiment encountered unexpected complications. I became engrossed in resolving them, losing track of time. When I finally arrived, I was nearly two hours behind schedule.

I anticipated her anger and expected a flood of calls, but my phone remained silent.

I found this peculiar. Previously, she would reprimand me for even a two-minute delay.

The reason soon became clear. Upon reaching the restaurant, I witnessed Emma in Oliver's embrace, appearing content.

I hesitated at the entrance, then decided to leave without entering.

Later, I calmly sent Emma a message wishing her well on her journey.

That evening, Emma appeared at my doorstep.

As I opened the door, she stood there with bloodshot eyes, her voice almost hysterical.

"Noah, I've apologized, what more can I do? Are you really going to dismiss me with just a text, without seeing me one last time?"

"Why did you even agree to meet in the first place?"
