YOU'RE LYING

~{FRANCES' POV}~

*

In fear, curiosity and worry, I carefully walked up to where she was and she gestured for me to sit down, which I did.

Once I had settled down, she did likewise while giving me a chill bone look like she knew something I didn't.

"Frances Franklin."

The way she called my full name made me gulp in fear.

"Officer Zillah?"

"What happened last night?"

At her question, I became nervous.

This was the same question Rene had asked me yesterday and weirdly, I didn't remember.

"I met you at the graveyard?" I said in uncertainty.

"You mentioned something about us going through the same thing. I believe I'm not mistaken," she said and I bit my lower lip as I began to fumble with my fingers.

"Another thing, we questioned the goblin and he kept saying you brought them back. Is there something you're not telling us Frances? Did you secretly practice dark magic?"

At her straightforward question, I gulped again and parted my lips to speak when she leaned forward with a scrutinizing gaze. She was scary.

"Do you remember what happened at all?" She inquired when she noticed how I reacted.

"Yes… I met you at the cemetery and teleported us to a forest and then…" I stopped there.

"And then?" She probed.

"I found myself back here… in my home." I answered.

"That's because I brought you home. You teleported me and the goblin to a very strange place and I was able to find the missing teenagers and youths as well as your friends and we met another strange being. But regardless, when I brought them to the industry for questioning, you were right there, seated in Mr Greene's office, unconscious." She recalled and I frowned in confusion.

"I did that?"

"Yes. I don't know how you're able to do any of this when you don't possess red cell but I need to bring you in for questioning. Mr Greene would also like to have a word with you," she said and I felt like crying for landing in a mess.

If they should find out that it wasn't just me but my friends who brought those creatures in, then we were doomed.

"Can I change my clothes?" I carefully asked and she nodded.

Getting up, I quietly walked out of there without bothering to look back at her because I was certain her eyes were on me.

Once I got to my room, I began to pace back and forth in fear. My hands were shaking and I felt lightheaded and breathless.

I didn't want to die.

I didn't want Luke to die, I couldn't afford to lose him.

At the same time I didn't want to return to the industry. I was terribly afraid.

After much thought, I did a quick but reluctant fresh up and changed into new clothes before heading back down.

On getting there, I found Officer Zillah whispering something to my mother. However, the moment she saw me, she stopped talking and gestured for me to follow her.

As I walked up to my mother, she rubbed my left shoulder and strangely she didn't look one but worried.

"You'll be fine," was all she said before walking me out the door with Officer Zillah.

The thought of sitting in the same vehicle with her was already making my heart race wildly.

When I was about to take the back seat, she stopped me and silently pointed to the front seat. I got in and so did she before starting the engine.

"Frances."

"Yes, Officer Zillah?"

"Ever since you came to this town as a little girl, my eyes have always been on you and for some reasons I gained interest in you. A good kind of interest." She paused and glanced at me briefly before resuming.

"From my observations, as a Yellow cell you can shift and as a Gold cell you seem to possess many qualities. The college you go to told us you could use an individual's powers against them by merely touching them." She paused there and I could tell where she was heading.

"And last night I got to see that you can time travel, teleport and summon creatures?"

"Time travel?" I frowned.

"Yes, you said it yourself, we already went through that part even though I didn't feel like it was repeated. I'm very keen with words and whatever you say the first time sticks, Frances." She reminded me and my breath shuddered in fear.

"I care for you the way I care for your mother, Frances. I don't want to see you get burnt for some minor misunderstanding."

I slowly nodded without looking at her.

I am a halfcast, because my mother is from Weenfield while my father Oakwood which is located in the North East. The last time I saw my father was when I went to stay with him after losing Logan, it was that terrible.

But all my life, I had lived with my mother in Weenfield and I also realized she was in some sort of relationship with Officer Zillah which I hadn't noticed back then.

Officer Zillah was a very aloof woman and this was the third time she was openly showing how much she cared for me. But regardless, I was always on edge around her.

"Are you involved in any Halloween practice over the last few days?"

I slowly looked at her and thankfully, she wasn't looking at me.

"N-no," I lied.

"You're lying," she bluntly said and looked at me with a calm expression.

"I'm not," I denied again.

"Your heart is racing fast and your lips are trembling and you keep fumbling with your fingers. You seem restless and nervous at the same time," she expressed how I felt in a few words.

"You are clearly hiding something, Frances. And if I'm guessing right, you did something you're not meant to and I believe it has something to do with the upcoming Halloween," she concluded.
