~{FRANCES' POV}~
*
"I didn't do anything Officer Zillah," I lied again and it made her give me a sharp look before silently facing forward, and throughout the drive to the industry she said nothing again.
The moment we got there after several minutes of driving, she led me straight to Mr Greene's office and my heart began to race as other authorities kept throwing me suspicious glances like they were ready to pounce on me any moment.
On the way, I spotted The Mayor, Luke's father and he narrowed his eyes at me briefly before focusing on what the person was saying to him.
When we got to Mr Greene's office, my heart relaxed when I saw Luke, his friends and Rene.
He looked worried as he came to embrace me before cupping my face and asking a question.
"Are you alright?"
I nodded and he led me to a chair beside his.
"Frances," Rene softly called my name and I looked at her.
Mr Greene was present and it was strange how he sat on his office chair in silence while closely observing us.
After a few seconds, he parted his lips to speak.
"Frances."
"Yes, Mr Greene."
"Your mother possesses White cell, correct?"
At his question, I hesitated but nodded.
"And your father is not from Weenfield and just a normal human being with no special ability like yourself, right?" he further asked and I nodded.
"Use your words," he ordered and I gulped before saying, "Yes sir."
"And here you are, possessing two rare cells when neither of your parents have any." He stated as he leaned forward while openly scrutinizing me.
"It came to my notice that you haven't fully grasped what you can do with the Gold cell but you're fluent when it comes to the Yellow cell. Am I right?"
At his question, I nodded.
"Answer with a YES or NO," he stressed and I quickly said yes as my heart skipped a beat.
His eyes stayed on me a little longer before he communicated with Zillah through his eyes and she left the room.
"Now let me get this straight," he continued, "Rene insisted you were in her house the previous night with Faith and as for the boys, I believe they were with you guys since their parents informed us they weren't at home, and Mayor Wilfred told us his son went to see Frances, correct?" His eyes fell on Luke who maintained a stoic expression.
"Yes sir," he answered.
"Good. But strangely, Faith's parents were the only ones who insisted that their daughter was at home, which isn't so because Faith told us she was with you guys. But that's not all, that same night, Faith was bitten by a vampire and Frances lost her memory of that night." He paused there as he looked at each and every one of us.
"But here's what's intriguing. Frances had a deep relationship with my late son and Mariah explained to me that you both shared a kind of bond that must've connected both of you together. And I believed that that must have brought him back to life but here's the fun part," he stood up with a deadly look and that was when the door opened and in came Zillah with a tall being which was carefully bound and I instantly recognized it and the little goblin of last night.
Seeing them in broad daylight made me gasp in fright. The tall being was strangely beautiful and scary at the same time.
In an instant, its eyes shifted to me and he smiled.
"It's an honor to see you," he said and my eyes widened.
"This is a Fae," Mr Greene introduced.
The goblin couldn't stop struggling but when it saw me, it went still.
"The damsel 'eis here!"
At its statement, Mr Greene faced me and I slowly looked at him in fear.
"They clearly know you."
"I-I don't know them." I quickly said.
"But they insisted that you brought them here, meaning you clearly know them," Mr Greene concluded and my eyes widened in disbelief.
"No, there's a misunderstanding… I didn't…."
"Frances, I'm not stupid." Mr Greene said and walked up to me with a stern look.
"You should be careful how you approach her, mister. She's a ticking bomb," the Fae calmly warned and I blinked in awe.
"What you have is rare and unsafe for this community, Frances. We know it's not your fault that you have these abilities but we have to take action immediately." Mr Greene declared and stood right in front of me.
At his words, my heart began to race wildly and my nerves became frantic at the thought of getting burnt.
"With due respect sir, but you're not saying she should be burnt right? She clearly isn't responsible," Luke boldly said and Mr Greene glanced at him with a dull expression before returning his gaze back to me.
"She's not at fault but she needs to take responsibility for her actions, Luke. Do you know the things she introduced into our land? It's not just this Fae or goblin but witches and ghosts as well. Do you know the danger we're in?" He asked.
"I know…"
"I don't think you do, Luke. Last night the six of you were kidnapped by this Fae which Zillah caught on time and Mariah Oswald went missing too and is yet to be found. Other towns have had their eyes on our land for years for our powers and magic supply, especially Town Sulouh which is known for practicing sorcery and Frances ended up letting a more dangerous being into our town, a vampire who harmed Faith and let's hope she doesn't change into one or we're doomed. Do you know why I say doomed?"
At his question, I gulped in fear especially when his attention was rooted on me.
"Logan can't be killed by the bullets we created for monsters; neither can a mere wooden stake kill him too. He's immortal and extremely dangerous and isn't affected by sunlight. Now can you see what you've done Frances?"
