HOW DID LOGAN DIE?

~{FRANCES' POV}~

*

The more we ran, the more my heart throbbed and from time to time I would turn back, thinking we were being chased when we weren't.

And just when we were about to take a turn and head downstairs, Joe went still and so did I when my eyes fell on the creature standing at the base of the stairs looking confused.

Nonetheless, the moment it saw us it slowly lifted its hand and pointed in my direction.

"You!" It said in a loud voice and got ready to mount the stairs.

"We need to get out of here!" Joe panicked as he grabbed my hand and began to run in another direction only for him to stop again when we found another giant at the end of the hallway.

"How the hell did they get here?" He asked in disbelief and I gulped in dread.

Zillah was right, I couldn't control it.

I quickly closed my eyes and thought of a place I knew and the next time I opened my eyes, we were no longer in the industry.

Joe looked around and quickly let go of my hand while giving me a cautious look.

"FRANCES!"

We were in Rene's house but thankfully, she wasn't the only one around.

Luke was present and so were the others. The moment I saw Luke, I rushed up to him and embraced him while burying my face in his chest. I was scared of everything including myself.

"What's going on? How are you here?" I heard Toby ask but I couldn't respond.

"Why are you all in one place?" Joe asked in suspicion.

"Why do you ask?" Job asked back.

I slowly pulled away and stared at Luke who cupped my face while having a look of worry on his face.

"Are you alright?" He carefully asked.

"I'm scared," I truthfully said.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I let some creatures into our land," I briefly said.

"Not just any creatures but giants. How did you even do it, Frances?" Joe inquired.

"I don't know," I said in exasperation.

"Giants?" I heard Mathew repeat a word Joe said.

"Who is he by the way?" Job asked.

"That's unimportant as I shall be taking my leave. I don't want to be anywhere close to her," Joe said and headed straight to the door but Job went and blocked his path.

"Who are you?"

"You don't want to know." Joe challenged.

"Both of you should stop!" Rene quickly intervened.

"But we can't let him go," Toby reasoned.

"He could be a threat to us," Luke finally spoke as he eyed Joe.

"Threat? The biggest threat is the girl you're protecting. Wait, are you the guy she settled for?" Joe asked and it annoyed me.

"Get out!" I turned around and yelled at him in anger.

"If only this guy gets off my way," Joe calmly responded and it infuriated me. He was very annoying.

"Job, let him go," I tiredly said.

"Not until he tells us who he is. Or maybe you could do that instead." Job shifted his focus on me and I sighed.

"Good. That's who you're meant to ask, after all she brought me here out of my own will." Joe supported him.

"He's just someone I know," I answered.

"Someone you know who's from the industry?" Job asked with a look of incredulity.

"Why would you bring him here?" Matthew inquired.

"It wasn't my intention. We were chased!" I shouted.

"Chased by giants?" Rene asked for confirmation.

"Precisely," Joe confirmed.

"What exactly is going on Frances? Why do I feel like you're the fault here," Job quickly shifted sides and it annoyed me.

"Be careful, Job," Luke warned.

"Why? Because she's your girlfriend?" Job challenged him.

"Stop it, Job," Toby warned.

"He's actually right. She could kill you just the way she killed her first boyfriend," Joe added more fuel to the situation and I looked at him in disbelief.

"I didn't kill Logan!" I yelled out.

"Keep telling yourself that!" He yelled back.

"Don't yell at her!" Luke came to my defense as he stood in front of me while glaring at Joe.

"If I were you, I will run as fast as I can from her," Joe said and prepared to leave only to be stopped by Job.

"You're not going anywhere mister," Job firmly said.

"What are you hiding?" Joe simply asked and it made Job stutter as he responded like a dummy.

"A lot of things."

"Look away, he's a white cell," I quickly warned him when I realized what was happening.

Leaving my side, Luke went to Joe and the moment their eyes met, his eyes turned magenta in color, meaning Luke had transported him to an illusion.

Once he was finally out of the picture, all eyes shifted to me.

"What are you hiding, Frances?" Mathew asked.

"We can't keep defending you if we're left in the dark," Job added and I nearly rolled my eyes at him.

Job was a very complex person. One moment he's on your side and the next he's totally against you and in another case, he's out to murder you. He was a very unstable human being.

"Is there something you're not telling us?" Luke finally asked and I sighed heavily.

"I'm not hiding anything," I truthfully told them.

"Then why does this guy keep warning us about you? And why did he say you killed Logan?" Job asked and folded his arms while giving me a stern look.

"Because he's angry at me. We were once good friends until his best friend Logan passed away, making him hate me unconditionally," I let them know.

"So how then did Logan die?" Rene asked and I went silent as I thought of how to tell them because it still haunts me to this day even though I had tried to bury it.

"Frances? Answer the question. How did Logan die?" Matthew probed for answers while staring at me with so much intent.
