HOW IT HAPPENED

~{FRANCES' POV}~

*

"Frances? Answer the question. How did Logan die?" Matthew probed for answers while staring at me with so much intent.

"He was stabbed," I answered and they all gave me silent looks, as if waiting for me to say more.

When I didn't say more, Job spoke.

"There's more to that, come on Frances. What do you mean he was stabbed? Did you stab him?"

"Be careful, Job," Luke warned and gave him an ice cold look before facing me.

"How was he stabbed?" he inquired.

"I…it was…"

"An accident? You stabbed him?" Job completed my words and I looked at him in annoyance. He was really a pain in the ass.

"Shut up, Job!" Rene snapped at him.

"We were just hanging around and having fun in the main garden close to the town hall when we were suddenly transported into another realm," I revealed and paused there.

"Another realm?" Mathew slowly moved close to me in shock.

"Don't tell me you could go places right from that time?" Job asked but I ignored them.

"I thought Logan was the one who transported us there since he possessed red cell. But the place we were in was like a barren land with skulls everywhere and the sky was deep purple. I thought we were in the land of the dead." I briefly said and paused just to let it sink.

"Then what happened?" Rene inquired.

"I asked Logan why he brought us there and he said he didn't and it was at that point we saw a pale white tall lean being in a black cloak riding a black horse. The moment its hollow black eyes saw us, it began to pursue us," I stopped there when I recalled everything and it made me shiver in fear. After a while I continued,

"Then Logan told me to transport us back but I was confused because I couldn't move places since I didn't have red cell but he kept telling me to transport us back that it was my doing."

I stopped again and exhaled slightly as I tried to bring myself to tell what happened after that.

"And not long, the corpse-like creature on a bony black horse blocked us from running further and so we stopped… and it pointed its finger at me and said, time shouldn't be messed with and I was meant to die…" my breath shuddered slightly as I continued, "....and at a speed I couldn't process on time, it threw a sharp spear at me…." I paused again as I inhaled and exhaled before completing what I was going to say.

"....but Logan came in front of me and it struck him from the back, where his heart rested." I concluded.

A heavy silence filled the room as they gave me mixed looks, especially Job. Luke on the other hand was speechless.

"Then what happened? Did it come after you?" Toby finally spoke after a while.

"I didn't know how I did it then but I held Logan in shock and the next thing I knew we were back in the garden but part of the spear was still buried in his chest and he breathed his last." I said everything in one go before looking away to get myself.

It was the worst experience I had ever faced in my entire life. Seeing Logan die just like that when some minutes ago we were laughing and saying sweet things to each other.

From that day on I tried to understand what had happened but couldn't. I wasn't even given the time to figure out how it happened because people began to blame me. It felt strange.

That was the first and last time I saw that creature.

"So that's how Logan died. He died trying to save you," Job pondered out loud.

"But why would the creature want you dead? Did you encounter it again?" Rene carefully asked.

"I don't know why it wanted me dead and ever since that day I have never encountered it again," I informed them and faced Luke who was still quiet.

"This means your gold cell was already manifesting right from that point," Mathew concluded.

"I guess so."

"This is a lot to take in," Job said and went to sit down.

"But you weren't at fault," Luke finally spoke and I looked at him in relief.

"Why is Logan after you when you didn't do that intentionally? You didn't mean to bring him harm in the first place. And from what you said, you weren't aware you could do such a thing, meaning you weren't fully in control of your abilities yet," Luke went on to say and I nodded as tears filled my eyes. At least someone gets me.

"But come to think of it, Frances. Why did Logan keep telling you it was your doing? Could it be that he already knew you could move places?" Toby smartly asked what I had failed to take note of.
