What the fuck was that sound?" a cold voice said to the driver, who looked terrified as he knew he had just hit someone with his boss's car.
"I—I think I hit someone," the man said, panicking.
"What! What the fuck are you still doing here? Get out and let's take the person to the hospital," the cold voice said angrily again as he cursed, stepping out of the car and running to the lifeless body.
"Fuck."
"Take her to the car. That must be the lady we saw running," the cold voice said while the driver was still panicking, causing the cold man to hiss in frustration and walk to the body, picking her up in his arms and rushing toward the car.
The driver opened the car door while he placed the body inside and hopped in too.
"Any hospital closer?" the cold man asked, but the driver shook his head.
"We passed the hospital already, and the lady must be running from bad people. I would suggest we take her far away from this area," the driver said, and the cold boss understood his point as he nodded.
"She is still breathing, but you have to drive as fast as you can. We have to save her; she is losing a lot of blood," the cold man said.
"Yes, boss," the man driving said as he focused on the road.
___________
On the other hand, Mr. Everett's men reached the road where the accident happened. They stepped out after they noticed blood on the road.
One of the men stepped out and walked closer to the ground where Ava was hit by a car, with her blood flowing on the floor.
The man called out for his colleagues to come see what he saw.
Walking closer, the men shivered in fear.
"Could this be Ms. Ava's blood? Did a car hit her or something? But where is her body? Or maybe she was hit by a car but still escaped? Come on, let's check out this area."
"If possible, she was slightly hit by a car and was trying to escape. She must be around here because she will be too weak to keep running. Let's go," one of the men said while they all started to look for Ava.
They tried and searched everywhere, but they couldn't find her. It's already 7 a.m. They couldn't find her.
They returned to Mr. Everett's mansion to let him know what happened to Ava and how much they tried to search everywhere for her.
.....
"What did you just say? How dare you all come back without her?" Mr. Everett yelled at the men angrily.
The men couldn't look up into Mr. Everett's eyes; the fear and panic wouldn't let them.
"We're sorry, boss. We couldn't find Ms. Ava, but we found traces of blood down the road. She must have been hit by a car. She may have been taken to the hospital by the culprit," one of the men said in fear.
Mr. Everett was so angry.
"You idiots, why did you come back? Why didn't you go to all the hospitals around here to look for her?"
"Now, you all should get out and make sure you bring my daughter to me or bring me the good news that you found the hospital where she had been admitted," Mr. Everett yelled at them while they all left the mansion again to search for the hospital where Ava had been admitted.
Mr. Everett walked back into the house angrily, cursing and frustrated.
"Fuck, this bitch ruined everything. She needs to be found and come back," Mr. Everett said in frustration, breathing hard from anger.
"Honey, did I hear them say she was hit by a car? Oh no, what do we tell Jackson? He will be here soon to take her, but she is nowhere to be found," Mrs. Everett said, getting scared already, while Mr. Everett was also worried about his company.
"She lied to us. That sly fox bitch. Unfilial daughter. I will never forgive her for what she just did to our family," Mr. Everett murmured angrily.
————
Mr. Everett's men visited five hospitals asking and searching for a patient who was admitted early in the morning, while all their efforts were to no avail.
They tried the sixth hospital that was far away. They got there, and one of the men walked to one of the staff in the hospital to ask about admitting a patient very early in the morning.
"Yes, there is a patient who was admitted to the hospital very early this morning, but we have some patients admitted after that patient. Tell me, how may I help you?" one of the staff said softly.
"Well, the patient admitted this early is who I want to see; can we see her, please?" one of Mr. Everett's men said softly.
"Sorry, about that patient. The patient is a VIP, which means no one is allowed to see her except the guardian who brought the patient here," the hospital staff said again.
"VIP patient? Huh, can you please tell me about the patient? I mean, is the patient male or female?" the man asked again in a pleading tone.
"Sorry, I can't disclose any of this patient's information to anyone, and the patient is still in a critical situation, so no one can meet the patient. But you can come back again when the patient's guardian comes to visit. You could talk to them and sort this out with them," the staff said softly and as professionally as she should.
"Oh no, please call that guardian. I'm very sure he is the culprit for hitting our young mistress," one of Mr. Everett's men said angrily, raising his voice.
"Please don't make noise here; you can wait in the lobby while you wait for them," the staff said politely and hurriedly left to join her colleagues.
Mr. Everett's men refused to leave until they met the guardian who had brought Ava to the hospital.
After about an hour, the guardian came along with a man in a suit who seemed to be his bodyguard or something.
The man walked to the men waiting in the lobby.
"Which one of you is here to cause trouble?" the man said coldly to the men.
"Cause trouble? No, we aren't here to cause any trouble, but to ask to see the patient you have brought here to the hospital," one of the men softly said.
"Why should I let you see the patient? Maybe the patient is not who you are looking for. You can go back to your boss and tell him it would be nice to search for another hospital to look for whoever you are looking for because this patient here is my boss's wife," the man said coldly, causing Mr. Everett's men to look shocked.
"What! No, this can't be. Your boss's wife? Why don't you call your boss out to tell me that to my face? I would advise you and your boss to behave and let us see the patient to know you are not lying," one of Mr. Everett's men said, raising his voice.
"First of all, who are you to advise me and my boss? I'm sure you don't have any idea who my boss is, and it would be nice if you leave now," the cold man said again before he signaled the bodyguards to chase them out of the hospital.
"I can help you by chasing you out of here. Go back to your boss and tell him the patient here is my boss's wife and has nothing to do with you all," the man said coldly while the men were chased out of the hospital before they caused more trouble.
Mr. Everett's men returned to their boss and explained everything to him.
"Did you say you are sure it's the hospital? How come the man claimed my daughter to be his boss's wife? I have checked the footage of the area where the incident happened, and two men picked my daughter up after hitting her," Mr. Everett yelled madly, but a cold voice spoke, causing Mr. Everett to panic.
"So now, you mean you can't find her? How about Mr. Everett sit and let's talk about this matter, hun," Jackson, the ruthless young millionaire, said coldly, causing Mr. Everett to look back at him with sweat beads covering his forehead.
"Of course, yes," Mr. Everett said nervously and sat down while the men excused themselves to talk.
"Now, what do you want to do, Mr. Everett? I told you I want her in return for the peace of your company, but you lost her—or should I say you are lying and pretending to lose her because you don't want to sell her in return to save your company?" Jackson said while Mr. Everett shook his head.
"No, no. I swear this is not a lie or pretense. She ran away this morning. I didn't realize how crafty she was to run away after agreeing to be with you. I checked up on her before I finally went to bed with my wife. Please believe me," Mr. Everett said honestly, looking nervous.
"Wow, she must be so smart to not give you any notice or clue of her plans to run away. Mmm," Jackson said sarcastically and sighed.
He grinned devilishly with a smirk forming on his cold, handsome face, furrowing his brows.
"What do you think I should do to you, huh, Mr. Everett?
