Chapter 9

My sister, it appears, is cunning though not without sense. She grasped the situation swiftly.

In her mind, she expected me to come to her aid as I had previously, as if it were a given.

But why would I endanger myself for someone who wants me dead?

I brusquely pulled away from her, saying, "Why should I bother? Isn't this the ability you so desperately sought?"

My bitter words made her blush, and she feigned a look of sympathy.

Reminiscent of our past life.

After I rescued her then, she played nice to my face while secretly plotting my downfall.

"I find pleasure in seeing you tormented and full of remorse."

"Didn't you covet my power, everything I possessed in my former life? Well, here it is."

Gripping her chin tightly, I hissed, "They'll carve you up bit by bit. Your remarkable healing won't let you die. You'll just spiral further into misery."

"Your blood will sustain them, and you'll be their living pantry."

I flashed an almost wicked grin.
