Chapter 7: Collision of Worlds

Aria tried to shake the encounter with Ryan for the rest of the evening. It seemed to her that his sudden arrival was like a storm, and she wasn't up to it yet. Ethan's reaction bothered her even more than that. The way he moved in, his protective nature, and the animosity between him and Ryan felt very intense.

The next day at school, Aria ignored Ryan and Ethan as she concentrated on her classes and the project. But the universe seemed all set to get her into a confrontation.

During lunch, while Aria sat with Sophie at their usual spot, Ryan appeared again, this time with a determined expression.

He stood at the end of the table and said, "Aria." "We need to talk. Now.".

Sophie's eyes got bigger, but did not speak.

Aria let out a sigh, dropped her fork. "Fine. Five minutes.".

Ryan guided her to the courtyard's secure corner where no one could see them.

"What do you want, Ryan?"Do you think I'm stupid?, Aria inquired with crossed arms.

"My mistake," he said under his breath.

I'm done with you, cheating… all of this. I was stupid, Aria. I want another chance.".

Aria blinked, stunned. You must be joking me. You think I'll just take you back after everything you did?".

Ryan said "I know I was a jerk but I'm better" I now understand what I have lost and will do anything to make it right.

Aria shook her head. "It's too late, Ryan. I've moved on.".

"With him?"Ryan's Voice Had a Touch of Bitterness."

"It's none of your business who I'm with or not with," Aria said.

Before Ryan could say anything, Ethan's voice cut through like a knife.

"Am I interrupting something?".

Ethan was leaning on a tree at a distance with his arms crossed and a dark look on his face.

Ryan speaking sharply, "This is none of your business, Carter."

Ethan pushed away from the tree and quickly walked a few steps. "It bothers her when you do."

Aria stepped in between Ethan and them. "I've got this.".

However, Ethan didn't give in. Ryan was tense, his eyes fixed on Ryan.

As Ethan said, "You heard her". "She's not interested. Take a hint.".

Ryan gave a disdainful smile, locking eyes with Ethan. Do you think that you could really take my place?".

Ethan said coolly, "She doesn't need someone to take your place." "She is a better person without you."

The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, and for a second, a fight seemed imminent

"Enough!Aria said firmly. She turned to Ryan. "We're done here. Stay away from me this time.

Ryan tightened his jaw but nodded and walked on.

Ethan, you idiot! Aria yelled angrily at him. What's the matter with you? "I did not require you to battle for me."

"I couldn't just stand by while he bothered you," Ethan said, calm but his eyes were still stormy.

"Let me take care of myself, Ethan," Aria said, now more gentle.

Ethan sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "I know you can. "But that does not mean, I'm going to sit idly by."

Aria looked at him and felt her anger turn into something she did not know. "Thanks, I guess.".

Ethan smiled, the tension melting away. "You're welcome, Bennett. "Just avoid making it a habit."

She rolled her eyes as they walked back to the cafeteria together, but a slight smile was on her lips.
