A loner's dream

Anon stood for a while, digesting what the spirit had said to him in the empty dark space of souls.

"What's the other path? Is there really another path besides the beast tamer? Maybe the spirit was referring to the path of the Contractor?"

"How am I different from the others?" - after he asked this question to himself, only that curse came to his mind.

"Of course, it's a curse!" - Anon was sure that his uniqueness was related to the curse.

"But what exactly is it and what is its connection and how?"

The questions rained down, but there were no answers.

"Okay. Let's think about it later," having found no answers, Anon finally decided to pay attention to the current situation.

"What am I supposed to do now? Anon asked himself. "I can't just give up. I gave my word to Susu that I would establish a contract with her. And she's expecting me back. No. I can't let her down. Not her."

Susu was special to Anon. Only she didn't leave him. And to justify her loyalty, Anon didn't want to give up.

But what to do next?

From the descriptions of other awakening subjects, there is no single standard and rules. Each awakening subject described his experience in different ways.

Someone found themselves in a strange place and tried to survive.

Someone has met people who died long ago.

Someone was living a part of their life anew.

Someone even managed to become a beast altogether and lived like a beast.

To give an example, there will be so many of them.

"Forget everything you know. This is your soul space, Anon. Don't take the experience of others as an example. This is your path and your own choice. So, it's better to think about yourself and do introspection to understand who you are," Anon whispered to himself, and taking a deep breath and exhaling, he began to clear his thoughts of excess. Having made the decision that, the rest will wait later.

Anon began to remember his past. Your family and your surroundings.

"For as long as I can remember, I've always been attracted to beasts. I've always wanted to know about them, studied them. I wanted to understand them, and I wanted to tame the beast myself and walk the path with him. I was interested in the processes of their evolution as they advanced in rank. I wanted to study the process of evolution myself and help my beasts develop and become strong with me in the future."

It could be said that this was Anon's dream and what he was striving so hard for. This zeal increased with the appearance of Susu.

These were his childhood dreams that he longed for. A dream that Anon thought he would fulfill.

But the desire to realize this dream was distorted 3 years ago. Anon himself didn't even realize it.

Suddenly become a "stranger" to your family. The family he loved and cherished so much.

The mother who took such good care of him as a child and the way he loved her so much.

His two sisters, whom he treasured.

The older one who took care of him and helped him and brought him all sorts of interesting books.

The younger one who constantly competed with him and tried to keep up with his studies.

He even respected his ever-absent father.

It was only after this very family became a "stranger" to him that he began to appreciate what he had lost. Without realizing it, he wanted to take it all back. He wanted to go back to the family he remembered. His early dream of becoming a beast tamer had been shattered, although he still held on to it.

If he were given a choice now between becoming a beast tamer or bringing his family back, Anon would have given up on his childhood dream without hesitation and would have chosen what he desires most at the moment, namely his family.

While Anon was trying to understand himself in the hope of changing his fate and understanding his path.

At the moment, he was thinking that becoming a beast tamer could change his life. It was a chance he didn't want to miss. He might be able to understand his curse and change his family's situation. And most importantly, he didn't want to disappoint Susu.

The longer Anon delved into himself, the more disappointed he became in himself, he began to panic. In the heat of despair, he even began to pray to the powerful and non-existent beings asking for help.

While Anon was trying all the ways that came to his mind, he couldn't imagine that another mysterious being had been following him all this time since the spirit left.

This creature followed his attempts and even managed to dig into Anon's memories and see his life.

After a thorough investigation, the creature produced a sigh of disappointment.

This sigh of disappointment was not directed at Anon, but at himself.

"Even the sacrifice of one of us in an attempt to shield these children from danger will only lead to more suffering. Since "we" can no longer interfere in this, I can help this guy at least make his dream come true. Maybe choosing one can change the fate of many, rather than choosing everyone in the hope of changing everything. At least my existence will make sense in his hands," the creature said. His voice echoed in the void; it was not clear to whom he was speaking.

"I don't know what kind of power you will awaken after my intervention. But I'm sure that this power will be what you want the most. Because the information I will give you depends on the strength of the user's desire. It's a pity that this power can only be awakened after your true awakening. Some of us have long given up on you, and some of us still cling to a non-existent hope. I don't have high hopes for you. I was disappointed in everything that led us to this. I will pray that you will live to see your awakening and take the right chance that I will give you, kid, and I wish you good luck in finding a new path that will help you and perhaps others like you overcome this misfortune," the words uttered by the creature did not reach Anon.

After saying these words, a creature with no specific shape approached the incomprehensible Anon and broke up into particles of small light and entered his body.

"I hope my sacrifice will help you," were the creature's last words before its existence was completely erased from this world.
