Time passed quickly in the outside world. The stone stopped emitting black light after about 20 minutes, just as Kalfrid said, marking the end of the awakening ceremony.
The participants of the ceremony began to slowly come to their senses.
Anon also returned to the outside world. His mood couldn't have been worse. He never got anywhere. While he was scratching his head in the soul space, he couldn't keep track of how much time he spent there.
Looking around and looking at the scene, Anon did not see the black stone there, which the spirit called the Stone of the law. The stone was no longer there. Only Kalfrid stood with his hands behind his back, scanning the crowd.
It was clear from the mood that many did not succeed. Someone was crying softly, someone was sitting with an absent look.
Among all this crowd, there were those who were smiling and rejoicing. These were the participants who succeeded.
Those who succeeded were not only happy, they all immediately pulled out their status cards and started checking their status. They all have a new line of information.
Path of cultivation: Beast Tamer.
And for those who were really lucky, there was another additional line:
Talent: (Which they have awakened)
It was necessary to find out how many of their group were lucky and how many were not.
After waiting for some time, Kalfrid clapped his hand and the doors of the hall opened slightly, letting in the assistants of the association. They all evenly distributed themselves among the crowd and began checking the statuses of all the participants.
"The ceremony has come to an end. Now an assistant will come up to each of you and check your statuses and write them down in the questionnaire. You all know that every awakened person must register with the association no matter what. Evasion and concealment are not allowed," Kalfrid said in a stern tone.
Following the example of everyone, Anon called up his status card and used it.
Status
Name: Anon Arkin Gender: Male Age: 16 years old Path of Cultivation: Mortal (not awakened) Relatives: Sarah Heyers (Mother); Adam Arkin (Father); Sursa Arkin (Sister); Anna Arkin (Sister);
What surprised Anon was that there was a new line about the path of Cultivation.
"A mortal?" – Anon read his status.
Anon was at a loss to figure out why the new line appeared. He hadn't heard that the unawakened had a new line. All he knew was that a new row appeared only after a successful awakening.
While Anon was stupidly looking at his status and thinking, an assistant with short black hair and round-rimmed glasses came up to him and looked at Anon's status.
Noticing her, Anon presented his status window to her so that she could examine it more conveniently and carefully.
After quickly reading Anon's status window, the assistant wrote down his name, gender, age and added in the note of his profile – not awaken. She didn't pay any attention at all to the newly appeared line about the path of cultivation.
Anon, in turn, did not ask her about the new line, remembering the words of the spirit's warning to be on a low profile and not stand out.
The assistants quickly checked the status of the participants and the group was escorted out of the hall, followed by a new group.
As a rule, on the day of the awakening, they did not say who exactly had awakened and what kind of talent, so as not to delay other groups and not interfere with the work of the association. But as soon as the day passes, it will be known how many tamers have awakened and whether those who have awakened talents have appeared among them.
That's when the battle for talent hunting and recruiting newly awakened tamers will begin. For those who are lucky enough to awaken, this is a chance to take off.
Anon's group left, and all the members from his school returned to their buses. From the mood of his group, Anon realized that most of them had failed their awakenings, which was not surprising.
While they were driving back to school, rumors had already begun to spread among the students of the names of those who were able to awaken. Surprisingly, three of Anon's class succeeded. Usually, if at least 1 or 2 students woke up in the class, it was considered luck. But 3 at once? It was a really good moment.
Jimmy was one of those three. Jimmy Rykon. Even more surprising was that he was rumored to have awakened talent. No one knew what kind of talent yet, and they probably won't find out yet. Hiding the details of talent was one of the basic rules of the beast tamers who had awakened them.
Knowing the details of a talent is like knowing the weaknesses of a beast tamer. Most of the well-known talents of beast tamers that are online are mostly approximate names and abilities. There are no specific and more detailed descriptions of these talents.
The other two awakened were one girl and another guy. The two of them had awakened as beast tamers without awakening any talent. Despite this, it has already caused the envy of many.
Sitting in the back of the bus, Anon noticed Saria out of the corner of his eye, listening to the rumors. She was just as unlucky as the others. It was obvious that she was disappointed and discouraged. Her gaze was blank and distant.
Anon sympathized with her. Her most important competitor succeeded where she failed. Anon couldn't imagine what she was feeling right now.
After returning to school, everyone was brought back to the assembly hall, where the director, once again rising to the podium, delivered an inspiring speech.
Anon wondered, "I wonder if he gives the same speech every time after the awakening ceremony?"
After the director's speech, everyone was dismissed to their homes, and those who succeeded were called to approach the director in order to clarify and provide security.
Anon didn't stay long and immediately left school and walked home. He was in no hurry. He failed. He didn't keep his word and didn't know how to look into Susu's eyes and say that he couldn't wake up.
Although Susu hadn't awakened on her own yet, as a descendant of a Rank 7 beast lord, her mind was already higher.
When Anon reached home, the sun had not yet set. From the outside, the two-story private house where Anon lived seemed lonely and abandoned. The house used to be bustling with life.
Immediately after they got married, Anon's parents bought this small plot in the area of private sectors for a large sum and built this house. The area was a private sector, where mostly beast tamers lived, who could afford such expenses.
Where his parents got the money from, Anon didn't know and wasn't very interested in her. He understood that beast tamers and Contractors had many ways to make money.
Anyone who wanted to become a beast tamer and a contractor knew that these vocations weren't cheap. The maintenance, feeding, care, and resources for the development and evolution of beasts are not cheap. But the services provided by beast tamers are not cheap either. If the tamer has specialized beasts, then it will be much easier to earn a living for himself and the beasts than for ordinary people.
Before Anon could reach the entrance, the front door opened and a white shadow flew out of it and crashed into Anon at high speed, knocking him to the ground. Due to the fact that he was too busy with his worries, Anon was not prepared and received a good blow on the chest from the white shadow. Anon closed his eyes from the dull pain and tried to catch his breath.
Opening his eyes, he was met with a pair of bright purple eyes staring straight at him. Anon was lying on the ground, and a white fox with a length of one and a half meters and a tail length of one meter towered over him.
About 6 years have passed since their first meeting, and the little fox has grown into an elegant, beautiful fox. Susu wagged her tail and whined with joy, licking Anon's face.
From such a meeting, Anon's mood immediately improved. The dark clouds above his head cleared away. He asked himself the question,
"Would Susu leave him if he couldn't awaken and become a beast tamer at all?"
Seeing how the white fox behaved, he knew the answer.
Susu would never leave him. She was already attached to him, and he was attached to her.
Even without the contract, she understood him, and he understood her. Under Susu's enthusiastic demeanor, Anon gently stroked Susu's head and hugged her tightly.
