Leaving the City

Taking with him a spare set of clothes, personal hygiene items and a notepad that he had bought a long time ago but almost never used, Anon quickly wrote down the numbers of his parents, sisters and aunt in it. He understood that if he had to hide, he would have to get rid of his smartphone. Therefore, he decided to write down their numbers in this notepad so that in the future, if the opportunity presented itself, he could contact them.

After collecting everything he needed, he went downstairs. At this time, Raikishi and Susu quickly exchanged a few words, and Susu was briefed on what was happening.

"Good", — Anon said. He quickly typed in a message and sent it to Sarina.

Having finished with that, Anon turned his gaze to Raikisha. He didn't know what to do next, and at that moment he felt like a lost puppy in the dark.

"Okay, let's go," she said, rushing out of the house. Anon and Susu followed her.

It was already evening outside. Today, Anon finished working part-time at his aunt's store a little earlier than usual and managed to get home before dark. However, while he was talking to Raikisha, it became dark outside. Only the light from the street lamps illuminated the footpaths, and few cars were passing along the roads of the residential area at that time.

Raikishi led them to a darker place where they could go unnoticed.

Anon could only guess what Raikishi was up to. She was a Rank 8 beast lord, and he didn't know what kind of abilities beast lords got after even reaching rank 7, let alone rank 8.

"If the beast tamers open their space to house pets, then what do the beast lords get?" wondered Anon, following Raikishi.

Dominance is a power that allows beast lords to control wild, unawakened beasts and other beast lords whose rank is lower than their own. This power is achieved through the power of the soul and will. The stronger the soul and will of a beast lord, the more imposing his dominance becomes.

However, even if a beast lord is lower in rank but has a strong soul and will, he can resist and disobey someone who is higher in rank but does not have sufficient soul and willpower.

After reaching rank 5, all beasts, whether they are not awakened, tamed, or overlords, gain the ability to control their size. Their true size increases significantly, and to compensate for this, they can shrink.

There is little information about the 6th rank. Rumor has it that upon reaching this rank, all beasts unlock abilities related to their race. These abilities are called racial.

As for rank 7 and 8, nothing is known about them at all.

Taking them to a secluded place, Raikishi began to grow in size under the gaze of Susu and Anon. Her magnificent eight tails have grown longer and exceeded the size of Raikisha herself. That look seemed to hypnotize Anon. Raikishi looked absolutely gorgeous, and her eyes were mesmerizing. Susu looked at her ancestor with envy, wondering when she would become the same. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Anon's reaction, and seeing his admiration, envy grew stronger and she began to panic.

She knew she couldn't do anything until she awakens. However, Susu did not want to awakening before Anon, and therefore deliberately slowed down her progress. But, watching her ancestor flaunt himself in front of Anon, she began to think about how to awaken as soon as possible and at least reach the fifth rank in order to be able to decrease.

Susu has not yet forgotten the picture where her ancestor snuggled on Anon's lap, enjoying the strokes. The thought of lying on Anon's lap made her dizzy. Susu imagined how she could sleep in his arms every night, and these thoughts almost made her nose bleed.

Susu fell to the ground, covered her eyes with her paws and began to whine softly, trying to drive away the strange thoughts.

"Go away, go away, go away..." she repeated mentally, trying to get rid of the new and wild ideas that filled her mind. Outside, Anon could only hear Susu's whining.

Raikishi also noticed that Susu was acting strangely. She could roughly imagine what her descendant was thinking, especially how she dreamed of becoming stronger and matching her.

Without waiting for Susu to come to her senses, Raikishi used one of her tails to grab her, and with the other tail she took Anon and put them on her back. The feeling of a fluffy warm tail gently hugging you was unforgettable.

With Anon and Susu on her back, Raikishi jumped up and soared into the night sky. Anon and Susu would not have been able to resist her actions if Raikishi had not supported them with the power of her soul. Anon was surprised and immediately realized that Raikishi could fly.

"Is this really an ability that beastmasters gain after reaching rank 7 or 8?" he whispered. Anon knew that land and water animals without wings could not fly, even if they reached rank 6.

Soaring high into the sky, Raikishi stopped in midair, and Anon was finally able to see the night sky of Yaktan City. He had lived in this city for all his 16 years, but had never looked at it from such a height before. The view that met his gaze was truly breathtaking. Anon couldn't help but envy the beast tamers who have flying pets.

Raikishi gave Anon time to enjoy the beauty of the night city, and then quickly headed north. Soon the bright night city of Yaktan was left behind, and with it all his former worries.

Thus began a new stage in Anon's life.
