In the late afternoon, the trio reached the outskirts of the city, located in the beast sub-region of Region No.03. During the journey, Anon hardly spoke to Raikishi, and Susu, pouting, clung to him, showing her resentment of the ancestor.
The beast cities in different regions differed from each other, but they had one thing in common — they were less developed and had unique features closely related to the ruler of the beasts. The appearance of each city depended on the whims and desires of the Lord, and each Lord was unique in his own way. The beast lords who ruled the cities in the subregions were from different species, which created differences between them.
The Beast City of Region No.03 became the second city that Anon visited, and it all happened in just two days. This was made possible by Raikishi's strength and speed.
Under normal circumstances, it would have taken Anon several days to reach the city of beasts. Unlike human cities, where a variety of aircraft and tamer beasts ply between them, making money by transporting people, in the world of beasts, traveling long distances requires much more time.
Anon suspected that Raikishi wasn't using her maximum speed because of him and Susu. If she wanted to, she could move much faster from city to city. He wasn't sure what her top speed was like.
When they finally reached the city, Raikishi took on the role of host and immediately found a suitable inn. She quickly gave Anon commands through a mental link, pretending to sleep on his shoulder.
They quickly found a room and, after paying for it, decided to relax. Before going upstairs, they decided to have a snack in the inn's dining room, ordering takeout along the way so they wouldn't have to go downstairs later.
The new room was not much different from the previous one. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stay.
Susu and Anon, even though they were sitting on Raikishi's back during the flight, were exhausted. Even just sitting and watching the mountains, rivers, and fields rushing by, their minds were tired.
Anon quickly went to the bathroom and, after washing up, decided to lie down. Susu, as always, decided to lie down next to him, snuggling against his side.
Just like yesterday, Raikishi found an empty spot on the bed and, settling down comfortably, closed her eyes. There was silence in the room.
Anon gently hugged Susu and reflected on the events that had happened over the past two days. His life had changed dramatically, and now he was on the run. Everything seemed unreal to him, as if he had been asleep all this time and was about to wake up in his room in Susu's arms.
Not noticing how time was flying, he lay in thought, trying to comprehend what had happened. Finally, Anon dozed off.
Susu immediately noticed how his breathing became even and calm. She knew what that meant: Anon was finally asleep. It was only after he had fallen asleep that Susu also decided to follow his example. She always waited for Anon to fall asleep first before falling asleep herself.
Soon, both the fox and the man plunged into the world of dreams.
Raikishi, after making sure that both were asleep, opened her eyes and looked at them carefully. A complicated expression appeared on her face. She stared at them for a while longer, and a determined gleam appeared in her eyes, indicating that she had made some important decision. She rose gracefully and silently from the bed, took another look at the sleeping people and left the room.
Neither Anon nor Susu noticed Raikisha's departure.
A few hours later, Susu was the first to wake up. The room was dark, indicating that they had been asleep for several hours and night had fallen. She looked at Anon and, after making sure that he was still asleep, decided to close her eyes and enjoy the moment lying in his arms.
However, after a few minutes, Susu felt some discomfort, as if something had been missed. She remembered her ancestor and, lifting her head, looked in the direction where the old fox should have been lying. But there was no one there.
Susu was a little embarrassed by her ancestor's absence. She looked around the room, but there was no one else but the two of them. Frowning, she felt that something was wrong. She couldn't figure out where this old fox had disappeared to. Suddenly, for no reason, she started cursing and cursing her ancestor.
Susu, having released all the curses she knew about her ancestor, finally calmed down and was able to recover a little. She focused on her connection with Raikishi.
Previously, she had only vaguely felt the presence of someone next to her. But when Raikishi appeared in front of her, Susu realized that this feeling was the result of their family connection. Realizing this, she began to explore this connection, and during the two days she spent with Raikishi, she learned a lot of new things.
The first thing she found out was that the connection between them was mostly from Raikisha. If Raikishi wanted to hide, then Susu, no matter how hard she tried, would not be able to find her. This realization made her realize that for all these three years, Raikishi had not tried to hide from her.
Secondly, the strength and stability of this bond depend on the distance. When Raikishi was in the beast continent, Susu couldn't discover this connection no matter how hard she tried. Even when Raikishi wasn't trying to suppress her, Susu couldn't sense her presence. On the other hand, as an ancestor, Raikishi could clearly sense Susu no matter how far away she was.
Realizing this, Susu felt a little embarrassed. When she was sent to Anon, she was still a little fox. But even at that age, she understood what had happened to her relatives—to her parents and the others. She knew they were dead, but she didn't know the reasons or details of what had happened.
Now that she found out about the connection with her ancestor, Susu wondered: How could her ancestor let this happen? She made it clear that no matter how far away she was, she could sense her descendants. Her words indicated that her ancestor was aware of the moment of death of a particular descendant.
"Then what did she do when all ties with her descendants began to disappear?" That was the first question Susu asked herself.
She had heard that his parents and relatives had died in different places and at different times. They did not meet their deaths on the same day, and the gaps between their deaths were quite large.
But the most important thing in this story is that Susu didn't even know her parents. The first thing she remembered was that she was brought to the Fox Empire, where she was looked after by an old ice fox. It was only over time that she met her ancestor.
Her ancestor, at first glance, seemed silent and cold. But over time, she started behaving the same way she does now. Susu didn't spend much time with her. After a while, she was sent to the Itia continent, where she met Anon.
At first, she was genuinely interested in the other foxes in Anon's family. However, as she talked to them, she realized that their characters were significantly different from her own, and they could not accept her spontaneity.
Only Anon could come to terms with her playful and active nature. She could tell just by looking into his eyes. In the six years they had been together, he had become a special person to her, even without signing a contract.
Through her connection with the ancestor, Susu felt that her ancestor was not in the room. Her presence was faintly felt, indicating that she was at some distance from her. Even without being an awakened beast, Susu could sense this vague presence.
She realized that when she awakened, she would be able to establish a mental connection from a distance and communicate with the ancestor wherever she was. However, at the moment, she couldn't ask her where she had gone since her awakening hadn't happened yet.
Susu tried to feel Raikisha, but did not notice how a dark veil of energy began to appear from under the bed.
In the blink of an eye, this energy penetrated between her and Anon, separating them. Susu did not have time to realize what had happened, as out of the corner of her eye she saw how the energy enveloped and absorbed Anon, who did not have time to fully wake up.
Anon disappeared right in front of her eyes, and it came as a real shock to her.
The force that separated them threw her to the side, and she hit the wall of the room. All this time, she didn't try to defend herself or prevent what happened.
Her gaze was fixed on where Anon had disappeared. From the shock of what happened, Susu did not realize that at that time she had unknowingly begun her awakening process.
