Wolf and Fox

Shadow wolf Bera couldn't understand what was happening to the human youth. She only agreed to participate because she was asked by Raikishi, her idol and future "Master." For a desperate girl like her, that was enough.

Bera was a descendant of the seventh rank beast lord, the true Lord of the city of beasts in Region No.07. Like her ancestor, she belonged to a species of wolves that had awakened the element of shadow, and as she rose in rank, she evolved into a Shadow Wolf.

She awakened early and became a first-rank beast lord, also discovering the element of shadow, which attracted the attention of her ancestor. Since then, she has been receiving the best and rarest resources, and her progress has been rapid. Because of her ancestor's favor, she had many envious people and admirers.

Many tried to resist her, while others fawned over her.

But since childhood, she was different from the others. She was prone to extremes. She beat her enemy's unconscious and chased them until more powerful beings intervened. At the same time, she did not let go of those she liked.

As for the fans and those who tried to woo her, she was not shy about using them for her own purposes. She started with minor requests and gradually progressed to the most expensive and absurd. If they refused or could not fulfill her demands, then she wrote them down in the list of her detractors.

She caused her ancestor a lot of problems with her behavior. At that time, he was the most important and powerful being she knew. Therefore, she always obeyed him and could not go against his will.

When Bera, who had reached rank 4, was gradually preparing to move to rank 5, she began to notice that her ancestor was behaving unusually. He began to constantly look around and behave very carefully. Sometimes they couldn't even see him for a long time, explaining this by his seclusion.

It wasn't until sometime later that she found out what had caused such changes in his behavior. This event was a turning point in her life. Then she met a little fox who was strolling through the city of beasts, where her ancestor ruled.

In the region where Bera lived, she encountered other beast lords from the fox race. However, this fox was different from them. Although she looked like a little fox, she was casual and playful. From the very first time they met, they found a common language and had fun. They teased Bera's other relatives together. It was mostly Bera, and the fox was just encouraging her and giving her strange advice.

In the end, she brought a fox to introduce her to her ancestor. At that moment, she realized who this fox was and the reasons for the changes that had happened to her ancestor.

When the fox entered her ancestor's chambers, she saw something that changed her view of the world. Her ancestor, whom she had always considered a powerful being, had completely lost his former status in her eyes. He was no longer a role model for her.

Now this fox became her idol. She embodied everything she liked: character, manner of speech and behavior. Even her appearance began to please her more and more as she took a closer look at her.

And this very new ideal of hers asked her to kidnap a young human boy and bring him to a certain place in the forest. She didn't care who this boy was until she found out that he was very dear to her idol's descendant.

When she found out that her idol had a descendant, she felt envious. Why didn't she become his heir herself? Instead, she turned out to be the descendant of a weak Rank 7 overlord. Over time, her ancestor had become a nonentity in her eyes.

Sneaking into the indicated room in the hotel, she was surprised to discover that her idol's descendant was just an ordinary fox who hadn't even awakened. In her eyes, this fox had become unworthy of being her idol's heir. She looked at Susu with disdain, who had woken up at that moment and was looking around for her ancestor.

At that moment, Bera began to act. Using the element of shadow, she threw her ancestor's descendant aside and, with a contemptuous laugh, abducted a human boy, after which she flew out of the room.

And that's how they ended up here together.

Bera watched Anon in disbelief, not even knowing his name. But what was happening to the boy scared even her. Suddenly, he began to writhe in pain, and blood began to flow from his eyes.

Bera was so scared that she froze in a daze for a moment. She remembered well the words of Raikisha, who repeatedly told her that this boy was important not only for her descendant, but also for herself. If something happens to him, her future "Master" and idol will blame her for it.

Suddenly, Bera's instincts picked up on the approaching danger. She turned her head sharply in the direction of the threat, but saw nothing. However, a few seconds later, she noticed a streak of purple light flying at high speed straight towards her.

Forgetting about Anon, she used her shadow element abilities and dove into the nearest shadow from a tree. A streak of light flew over her, not hitting her, but completely piercing through the trees that stood behind her.

A deafening clap of thunder followed the bright light.

It wasn't until she heard the sound and was almost deafened by it that Bera realized it wasn't a flash of light, but lightning.

After breaking through several dozen trees, the lightning stopped and turned back. In a matter of moments, she returned and froze next to the human boy.

Bera was finally able to see the true nature of the lightning. She took the form of a fox with a single tail, whose entire body consisted of writhing lightning. The profile of the fox surprisingly resembled her idol, but at the same time it was something else. Looking closer, Bera recognized her as an unawakened fox, a descendant of her idol, which surprised her beyond words.

Susu, who had caught up with them and rushed here, was overcome with anger after seeing Anon's condition. She did not understand what was happening to him, and blamed the kidnapper for this, believing that she was the one who did something to Anon.

When she arrived, she immediately noticed a black wolf towering over Anon. She immediately attacked, but the wolf deftly dodged, hiding in the shadows. At that moment, Susu realized that the wolf was more related to the element of shadow than darkness.

Without wasting any time, Susu moved away from Anon closer to the place where the wolf was hiding and put all her strength into her punch. Countless lightning bolts sparkled around her, illuminating everything in the hope of luring out the kidnapper.

Susu's method was reckless and might not have had much effect if she had used her element before she became lightning herself. Her strength would not have been enough, and the attack would not have reached the target. Bere would have easily dodged such a blow. However, now that the Susu lightning element has become an integral part of her, her attack has gained the power of law.

Bera didn't think much of it at first, believing that she could dodge and hide in another shadow. After all, when there is light, there is shadow, and it will always have a place to hide.

But this time it was different. The light seemed to have its own will and forcefully pushed her out of the shadow, not giving her the opportunity to hide in another one. She was caught off guard.

Susu, overcome with anger and murderous intent, rushed at her swiftly. However, before she could take a step, she was thrown aside by another lightning bolt, causing huge destruction around her and raising clouds of dust. The power of this new lightning was similar to her own, but significantly different. The pressure she put on Susu was incredible.

Compared to that lightning, her own was only a small spark. When the dust settled, Susu saw a large fox with eight tails, surrounded by lightning sparks, standing in front of the she-wolf.

It was Raikishi, her ancestor. She not only hit Susu, but also prevented her from attacking Anon's abductor, which only confirmed Susu's suspicions. Her ancestor was involved in everything that was going on around her.

The realization of this fact made her furious, and fueled by it, the lightning nearby released a huge amount of energy. Lightning surrounded Susu, completely hiding her fox form.

**Author's note**

I would like to thank everyone who read this story before this chapter. This is my first experience in writing. I do not know if you liked the story, the characters and all the other aspects, but I am grateful to everyone who took the time to read. I will be glad to hear your opinion, if possible. I plan to keep updating the story, at least until the end of the first volume. We'll see what happens next. However, in my current state, it is unlikely that I will have the motivation to continue this story. Although I like the story itself, I don't want to waste my time and my life on it without motivation.
