I'm counting on it

Chapter 337: The Hunt Begins

Alexander didn't waste a second. His mind raced, calculating every possibility, every lead. Marco was gone, but someone else had orchestrated this. And whoever had taken Mia had just made the biggest mistake of their life.

Victor groaned, trying to push himself up. Blood dripped from a cut on his forehead, but his eyes burned with the same determination. "They took her alive, Alexander. That means they need her for something."

Alexander clenched his fists. "Then I'll find them before they get the chance to use her."

He turned toward the surveillance room, where the estate's security cameras might have caught something. The footage was corrupted—deliberately tampered with. But Victor managed to retrieve a single frame: a black SUV speeding away from the estate. The license plate was barely legible, but it was enough.

Victor tapped furiously on his laptop, cross-referencing databases. Within minutes, he found something. "The vehicle was registered to a shell company. But I traced it back to a warehouse on the outskirts of the city."

Alexander grabbed his gun. "Then that's where I'm going."

Victor's hand shot out, gripping his arm. "You need backup."

"I don't have time for backup." His voice was ice. "Mia is out there, and I'm bringing her home."

Without another word, he strode toward the door, his mind set on one thing—destruction.

Mia's Prison

Mia's head throbbed as she regained consciousness. The air was thick with the scent of metal and gasoline. Her arms were bound behind her back, her ankles shackled. She was in a dimly lit warehouse, the floor cold beneath her.

A man stood nearby, watching her. He was tall, lean, his face sharp like a blade. "You're awake," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

Mia's body ached, but she forced herself to sit up. "Who are you?" she demanded.

The man crouched in front of her, tilting his head. "Someone who needs you alive. For now."

Her stomach tightened. "What do you want?"

He smirked. "Not me. But my employer? They have plans for you. Something about 'Project Paragon.'"

Mia's heart pounded. Marco's plan hadn't died with him.

She swallowed her fear. "Alexander will find me."

The man laughed. "I'm counting on it."

Mia's blood ran cold. This wasn't just about her.

They wanted Alexander, too.

Alexander's Arrival

The warehouse loomed ahead, bathed in the dim glow of streetlights. Alexander's grip on his gun tightened as he approached. He had one goal—wipe out anyone who stood between him and Mia.

He moved like a ghost, taking down the first guard without a sound. Then the second. His rage fueled him, his focus razor-sharp.

Then he heard it—Mia's voice.

"I'm counting on it."

She was inside.

He stepped forward, his gun raised.

The hunt was over.

It was time to bring Mia home.
