"Ahhhh! Somebody, save me!" Finn roared in horror.
He stumbled as he ran along the ruined street. But no matter how hard he fell, he quickly got up and continued running. His desire to live was truly commendable.
Roar!
The hungry roars of the monsters echoed from the distant streets.
"No! No...NO!" Tears rolled down Finn's eyes as he recalled everything he did. "What did I do wrong? Why do I have to die!"
He ran with all his might the entire time, but unnoticed to him, he was slowing down.
"I did what I had to do to survive. Is it so wrong?" He cried in tears.
Thud!
As the virus spread through a good portion of his body, suddenly, his feet went numb.
Finn collapsed to the ground.
Roar!
The monsters were getting closer.
"No! No! NOOOO!" Finn dragged himself forward with his arms, his face wriggled in terror.
Thud! Thud!
He could hear the movements of the monsters getting closer.
"Noooo..."
He extended his arm forward to grab onto the ground and drag himself.
But just before he could reach it, his arm froze.
His entire body went numb.
Blood filled his mouth as he started choking.
Roar!
The monsters arrived.
Splash!
The hound monster bit into his left leg, completely tearing it off.
Aaaghhh-gghhkk!!
Finn screamed, his cry broken by the blood bubbling in his throat.
Aaaghh...
Finn's screams filled the night. A chaotic mix of desperate, wet gurgles and agonizing screams. With each cry, blood splashed out of his mouth, but it didn't stop the monsters.
Flesh fell from between the monster's teeth as they munched on Finn, and his screams slowly died down. He lost his strength as he simultaneously felt the pain of his body slowly thorn away and the pain the virus infection brought.
He truly died the most agonizing death.
As if the heavens made him pay for his sins.
...
More than ten minutes passed.
Vincent still sat on the chair, motionless, his body covered in blood, both his and the blood the dead people around him spew.
The room was covered in blood, Marin, Hossik, and Dorvin lying on the ground, their bodies grey, with purple veins all over them. But the most striking, the white, wide-open pupilless eyes.
If Vincent was awake, he would freak out. After all, so much blood would certainly attract the attention of the monsters around.
Crack!
The sound of something cracking sounded in the room.
Marin's hand moved.
Slowly, the rest of his body started moving. With each move, his skin cracked, but instead of red, green blood flowed.
But as if he didn't mind it, Marin raised.
Normally, according to the movies that is, zombies follow their basic instinct and immediately search for human flesh to consume.
But as if the zombie had not even detected Vincent, it slowly made its way out of the room. It dragged one foot after the other, its feet scraping against the ground. Its movements were stiff.
However, it didn't have its hands before its body. If not for the strange color of its skin, the veins, and the white eyes, one couldn't distinguish it from a human.
Not long after, Hossik and Dorvin woke up and they left the room as well, leaving Vincent behind.
[Congratulations, you completed the main task. The zombie virus is slowly spreading through the world]
[You received:] - [Skill-Contract] - [Skill: Command] - [Skill: Probe]
A bluish window appeared, floating before Vincent.
[Warning!]
The next second, the status window suddenly turned red.
[Detecting abnormal status. Detecting critical injuries. The host's life energy is slowly fading]
[Starting the process of returning the life energy and healing]
[Note: The system has limited energy. The price for returning the life energy needs to be compensated]
The system stopped Vincent's life from leaving him and fastened the healing, but not enough to the point of it being visible to the naked eye. Nowhere near.
...
A week later.
On one of the moons.
At the top floor of the tower, the entity of unfathomable power sat on the throne of fallen foes, shrouded in darkness.
The demoness stood at the feet of the figure, her body respectfully bowed.
"Casallis..." The entity's voice rang in the room. Voice so dark as if it were coming from the abyss, capable of shaking the void itself.
"Your majesty," The demoness bowed even more, her heart filled with pure respect and loyalty. "I have an urgent report,"
Profound silence enveloped the room for a second.
"Your majesty," The demoness took the silence as approval and started the report. "We observed the changes the mana brought to the race of this world. After careful observation, we noticed that they might be a branch of the higher lifeform we faced in world 1111."
"The Cultivators?" The entity's voice rang.
"Yes. But they don't seem able to morph and absorb the mana in such a unique way. The humans in this world, when faced with a life-threatening situation, the mana stimulates the hidden talents of the humans whose blood is not too thin and diluted.
The humans awaken special abilities. We don't have any estimation to know the limits of the abilities they can awaken. Some awaken the ability to control the elements, while others can awaken unique abilities.
Your majesty, according to our observation, amongst all the races we faced, the creatures of world 1111 and this world, 3002, have the most potential."
"Do you think the creatures of this world can be a threat?" The entity's voice rang.
"No, Your Majesty. They do not have the time to develop and get strong enough to face us." The demoness replied. "Your majesty, there seems to be a disease spreading throughout this world,"
"A disease?"
"Yes, Your Majesty. The disease affects the entire body and kills the infected. It turns them into low-level undead. We suspect there might be some higher force responsible for spreading this disease or an ability of some of the humans. It's the first time I've seen something like this."
"Is it a threat?"
"No, Your Majesty. It seems to only affect our lowest and low-grade clansmen. It doesn't seem to affect the awakened humans as well. We estimate that the virus will help humans to awaken quicker, but it will also kill a large portion of them.
On this planet, only the awakened humans would remain, the rest would be turned into low-level undead."
"This is the end of the report, Your Majesty."
"You can leave,"
The demoness bowed respectfully and slowly made her way out of the throne room, not showing her back to the entity.
The entity remained sitting on the throne, shrouded in darkness.
"Three thousand worlds and not a single worthy foe..."
...
In the room, Vincent still sat on the chair, motionless. He had still not regained his consciousness.
He remained oblivious to the chaos ongoing in the world.
However, his face and injuries had healed completely. The wound on his shoulder has healed. Miraculously, new teeth had grown on his upper jaw. But the system couldn't do anything about the broken bones in his nose.
His nose did heal, but it remained severely crooked and with a terrible scar.
A terrible stank spread through the room. The blood had dried up, including the one on Vincent and his face.
Slowly, Vincent opened his eyes.
"Agh..." He groaned in pain as he tried moving.
His whole body had become stiff, especially his neck. His head hung down for more than a week.
"T-This is..." His eyes widened in shock as he saw the bloodied floor around him. The worst, he couldn't even cover his nose as he was still tied. He had to endure the smell.
His eyes landed on the open door. Weak daylight entered through the door.
'I need to leave quickly,'
Clack! Clack!
Vincent jumped along with the chair, slowly making his way toward the closest way.
As he reached the wall, he rubbed the rope on his hands off the it, slowly weakening it. He focused all his attention on breaking free, so he didn't think anything other than the threat he was in for staying here. He even forgot the missing bodies.
The rope was not that thick to begin with, so after a minute of intense rubbing, it weakened enough for Vincent to rip it.
He quickly untied the rope around his legs and got on his feet and started moving towards the door, his heart racing. He just woke up, so he didn't think straight.
'Wait, where are Marin, his henchmen, and Finn?' Vincent stopped.
Seeing the amount of blood around him, it would be right to conclude they died. But how did they die? And if they did die, where are their corpses?
But if they are not dead, why is he still alive? They wouldn't keep him alive after what he did.
Slap!
Vincent quickly put his palm on his face, examining. 'My face is fine? The blood dried? How much time passed for me to heal?' He also noticed the wound on his shoulder has healed. 'Could it be...' His eyes widened. 'Could those strange windows that appeared before my eyes have something to do with this?'
At that moment, Vincent's mind raced with thoughts, trying to figure out what happened and make sense of the situation.
'And how did this blood not attract monsters?' Vincent thought, but he quickly shook his head and resumed his walk. 'Forget it. I must leave here and get to a safe place.'
"Wha..."
As soon as he stepped out of the door, Vincent's eyes widened in pure terror as he got the answers to his questions.
He stood still for a few seconds, words unable to leave his mouth.
"What have I done?"
Finally, he spoke, his voice breaking.
