Ryan appeared worn out, as if something dreadful had occurred.

"Ryan, my dear brother, what brings you here?"

"I wanted to check out your college and see how you're faring in Florida."

I grinned and responded, "It's wonderful here. The cuisine is excellent. You should research some popular spots and give them a try when you can."

He seemed uncomfortable and didn't reply.

"Mia, couldn't you join me for a meal? Just once would suffice."

Before I could answer, a man's voice interrupted.

"My apologies, but I've already made plans with Mia. Please wait your turn."

Ethan approached from nearby, anxiously positioning himself between Ryan and me.

The two men glowered at each other, tension palpable.

"Mia, did you return to school so soon just for him?"

Ryan's tone carried an indefinable emotion.

I didn't understand his thoughts, but I felt no need to clarify anything.

"I'm sorry, Ryan. We're about to eat now. We must go."

I prodded Ethan, who stood motionless.
