Chapter 11

"It's too quiet at our place. Can we join you for a game?"

Mrs. Carter said with a grin.

In the past, our families always celebrated the Spring Festival together.

This year, due to my situation with Ryan, my mother had turned down Mrs. Carter's offer to have the reunion dinner as a group.

However, with visitors at our doorstep, we couldn't refuse them entry.

Ryan naturally took a seat beside me, observing my mahjong game.

My relatives, unaware of the situation between Ryan and me, kept making playful remarks.

I responded with a smile and explanation each time.

Ryan's demeanor grew increasingly displeased.

At midnight, as we went outside to launch fireworks, he pulled me aside, seeming eager to speak.

Just then, my phone rang.

I blushed slightly as I withdrew my hand from Ryan's and answered the call.

It was Ethan, a local classmate I'd met through a club.

He was also quite attractive.

Not the brooding, handsome type, but a cheerful, smiling fellow.
