Xiao Wu was sentenced to twenty days in an iron cage before being sent to Spirit City. She was escorted by two Titled Douluo—Serpent Spear and Piercing Boar—along with a group of Spirit Hall soul masters, making for an imposing display of authority.

The Heaven Dou Empire's thousand-man entourage arrived in Spirit City safely after the assassination attempt on Feng Xiaotian by Tang Hao. Over the course of the journey, Jiangzhu tirelessly treated the Shrek team's injuries, healing all external wounds. Only Dai Mubai's severed arm and Ma Hongjun's irreversible injury remained beyond her abilities.

A day after Shrek Academy's arrival in Spirit City, Tang San, who had been taken away by Tang Hao, rejoined the Shrek team.

Using the skill Wildfire Burns Without End, Spring Winds Blow Life Anew from his Blue Silver Emperor's right leg bone, Tang San attempted to heal Dai Mubai's arm. However, Ma Hongjun's injury had lingered for too long. The fire that inflicted it had burned so thoroughly that even after Jiangzhu's healing, new skin had already regrown over the area. As a result, not even Tang San could restore what had been lost.

Unless Ma Hongjun could find a compatible replacement from another person and have Tang San attach it to him, his only option was to use a catheter for the rest of his life—making him, by definition, a eunuch. Unfortunately, the medical and cultural knowledge of the Douluo Continent was too primitive to allow for such a procedure.

Thus, Ma Hongjun's fate was sealed—he would remain a eunuch for life. Even if Flender was driven to madness and wanted to take revenge on Blazing Academy, it was pointless. Spirit City strictly forbade battles between soul masters, and any troublemakers would be swiftly dealt with by the patrol squad.

However, Ma Hongjun's condition wasn't entirely without benefits. His Evil Fire Phoenix's uncontrollable flames could now be safely expelled without resorting to the unhealthy, reckless acts he once relied upon.

Spirit City – Douluo Hall

Loud booms echoed through the grand hall.

Qian Daoliu stood with eight black soul rings and one red soul ring beneath him. In his hands, the Divine Sacred Sword radiated an intense brilliance. The weapon grew rapidly, swelling to ten meters in length and three meters in width. With a single slash, he brought the massive blade down toward Qian Renxue's forehead.

She raised her own sword in an attempt to block, but the moment their blades collided, the overwhelming force sent her to her knees. In the next instant, she was sent flying, crashing hard against the walls of Douluo Hall.

If not for the divine angelic energy reinforcing the hall due to the activation of the Angelic God Trials, the sheer impact would have blasted Qian Renxue straight through the walls.

Eight soul rings surrounded Qian Renxue—one yellow, two purple, four black, and one red. The hundred-thousand-year soul ring had come at a steep cost; Spirit Hall had captured an eighty-thousand-year-old light-attribute soul beast from the Star Dou Forest, then force-fed it an untold amount of rare treasures, forcibly evolving it into a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. This became Qian Renxue's eighth soul ring.

The resources and gold soul coins spent on this endeavor had drained Spirit Hall significantly. The only way to recover from this loss was by exterminating the entire Clear Sky Clan.

After absorbing this soul ring, Qian Renxue's Angelic Martial Soul underwent a final transformation, fully evolving into an Eight-Winged Seraph.

Now, she lay sprawled on the ground, coughing up blood, her entire body covered in wounds. A trace of pain flickered in Qian Daoliu's eyes, but he quickly hardened his resolve. With a wave of his hand, his surging golden soul power condensed into countless threads of light, binding Qian Renxue tightly.

His voice was devoid of emotion.

"As the Guardian of the Angelic God, I ask you—do you have the determination to protect the Angelic Clan?"

"I will complete the God Trials, reach the same level as my brother, and free my father from prison… and that woman." Qian Renxue's voice was hoarse, but her determination was unwavering.

"Then you must pass my test."

Qian Daoliu clenched his fist, sending a golden energy strike directly toward Qian Renxue's abdomen.

"Angelic Right Arm Soul Bone Skill—Angel's Protection!"

Her right arm glowed brightly, and from it emerged a colossal six-winged angelic figure. The angel wielded a massive golden shield, positioning itself in front of Qian Renxue to absorb the attack.

Just as the golden energy strike was about to collide with the shield, a pale, sinister aura suddenly enveloped the fist.

Boom!

The shield shattered instantly. The golden strike slammed into Qian Renxue's stomach, sending her hurtling across the hall. She let out a pained cry, vomiting a mouthful of blood. Even the divinely reinforced walls of Douluo Hall showed visible cracks from the impact—a testament to the terrifying power of the attack.

Qian Renxue collapsed to the ground, unconscious, her body severely wounded.

A Sudden Intrusion

Qian Daoliu's expression changed in an instant. The usual indifference on his face vanished as his figure flickered. In the blink of an eye, he appeared beside Qian Renxue.

"Xiaoxue!"

A voice suddenly interrupted.

"Old man, you held back. This level of force wouldn't even knock down an ordinary person, let alone kill her. Are you secretly going easy on her during the Angelic God Trials?"

The voice belonged to Qian Hancan, who had just appeared in Douluo Hall. The eerie, pale-white aura that had emerged around Qian Daoliu's golden fist earlier was his killing intent.

Qian Daoliu frowned, his voice filled with restrained anger. "The power of a God's position is fixed. As long as one has enough time to adapt, full mastery is inevitable. Why must you make things so harsh?"

"Because the Angelic God's position is born from faith," Qian Hancan replied coolly. "If faith is insufficient, the god's strength will wane. Since that's the case, the trial must be strict—rigorous self-tempering is the only way."

His gaze fell on Qian Renxue, who lay battered and bloodied on the ground. Though a flicker of pain surfaced in his eyes, he quickly suppressed it.

"Do you think I went through all this trouble to enhance Xiaoxue's Angelic Martial Soul for nothing? The continent no longer has any resources capable of further upgrading it. And besides…" He paused, his tone growing cold. "Xiaoxue is still too naïve."

Qian Daoliu let out a quiet sigh. After a brief silence, he asked, "What about Bibi Dong?"

"She's probably still alive," Qian Hancan said indifferently. "But if Xiaoxue fails to complete the trial, she'll be collecting Bibi Dong's corpse within three months—after it's been carved into pieces."

Hearing this, Qian Daoliu's pupils contracted sharply. Though he had spent his days training Qian Renxue inside Douluo Hall, he was not completely blind to the outside world. He knew about Tang San, the son of Tang Hao, who possessed twin martial souls. He was also aware of the battle between Tang Hao and the Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo.

If Qian Hancan's words were true, then during this upcoming Spirit Master Tournament, Tang Hao would likely bid farewell to this world. And once that happened, news would spread. Bibi Dong—who had been staying at Shrek Academy all this time and was in possession of numerous precious soul bones—would inevitably meet a tragic fate.

Qian Hancan had foreseen all of this. He had made his plans accordingly. And yet, he had only sent two auxiliary Angel Clan soul masters to "assist" the situation. Was he really willing to just stand by and watch Bibi Dong die so miserably?

Could a person truly be this cold-blooded?

For the first time, an unsettling fear toward his grandson crept into Qian Daoliu's heart.

"If you want to completely rid Xiaoxue of her naïve nature," Qian Hancan said, his voice devoid of emotion, "then bloodshed is necessary. Let Bibi Dong shine one last time before her demise."

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked out of Douluo Hall.

Qian Hancan was not without emotions—but he reserved them for only a select few. He cared for Qian Daoliu, for the six great offerings, and even for Qian Xunji—but only slightly. Most of his feelings were tied to Qian Renxue, his younger sister. However, even that affection was conditional—intertwined with strength and growth.

As for Bibi Dong?

She was nothing more than a duty—one that had long since lost its value the moment she chose to oppose Spirit Hall and the Angel Clan. Her life or death, her suffering or misery—it was of no concern to him. Even if his actions indirectly led to her unimaginable torment, he would not care.

As for the rest of Spirit Hall?

They were merely employees.
