Chapter 23 - Weapon Selection

We arrived at the huge chamber located on the ground floor.

Leslie then turned to face us as she spoke loudly.

"This is the vault. Inside is every weapon you can think of."

She then paused and added, "Of course except for weapons only Class four and above can utilise."

Around me, I could hear some cadets gasp in marvel at that statement. Having every weapon imaginable or rather claiming to have such was just kinda unimaginable.

I mean to have that, this room would have to be unimaginably huge. The novel only briefly described this, so really I had no idea how big it was.

As I was lost in thought, the sound of the door to the vault opening resounded in the area.

I raised my head seeing Leslie's hand on the door. Hm. Hand scanner huh.

Well it is a sci-fi like world I guess. Nothing's impossible, I thought touching the back of my neck where the implant was.

'Wha-'

I exclaimed inwardly as the vault door opened fully and I looked inside.

Shit. This thing is huge. This place is huge.

And I wasn't the only one who reacted this way. Looking around, I noticed some other cadets looking around wide eyed.

"How is it that big?"

"What sorcery is this!"

"How did you do that"

Different questions began flying around as the cadets were looking at the room.

Honestly I was curious as well.

From outside, this room looked ordinary but looking inside, you'd know just how massive this place was.

"Hey brats." Leslie called out. "Stop acting like country bumpkins and get in already".

Everyone just absentmindedly nodded and headed inside the vault.

Looking around once more, I had to pinch myself to confirm what I was seeing was real.

Although I already knew and accepted that I was in a technologically advanced world, I still found this surreal.

Infact is this even something technology can achieve. Even if it is, are the humans of this world that advanced to be able to do shit like this.

If they were, then how have they not ended Fantasia already.

I mean the interior of this room was about the size of the entire ground floor.

Haa. Damn. You know what just forget it.

I then looked around at the weapons on display and not gonna lie, Leslie wasn't kidding when she said there was every weapon we could think of.

There were mechanical daggers similar to the ones I used in the entrance exam. There were swords of different types.

Katanas, long swords, rapiers, kunais all mechanical. There were even mechanical axes, halberd, spears, hammers, shurikens, hell there were even energy rifles.

The shelves were packed with different kinds of weapons. Oh even gauntlets were available.

Interestingly tho, there were no light sabers so I'm guessing they were serious about not letting us take any Category 4 weapons and above huh.

But still tho. How is it even possible that all these weapons could fit in here anyway.

"Um ma'am. How is this, any of this possible." A cadet raised his hand, asking her.

The rest of the cadets nodded while murmuring, wondering as well.

"The Alderans." Leslie responded simply. "The Alderans built this room."

Oh. Now it makes sense. Looking around, I saw everyone else also nodding their head understanding how now.

"To be clear, it was the third head of the Alderan family that created this room". Leslie added finally.

Now I see. The Alderans were another one of the six ruling families. They were one of the rare few families whose superpowers were firmly implanted in their bloodline.

Asin members of their bloodline were guaranteed to possess one particular power.

And in the case of the Alderans, their power was to control space.

Which was why this suddenly made sense. Why hadn't I thought of this before?

Haaa.

"Anyway, enough of this. One by one start choosing your weapons." Leslie called out to us.

One by one everyone picked something that resonated with them.

When it was Lucas' turn, he walked in front of a lean mechanical longsword and picked it up.

Guess this part didn't change.

Maria chose a long spear, just like in the novel.

Alicia picked a mechanical handfan. Kevin picked a pair of daggers.

When it got to my turn. I walked towards rather than a pair of daggers like the ones I used in the exam but rather a katana.

A sleek mechanical katana with a shining black luster to it. I could hear some murmur from the crowd, a bunch of them wondering why I was choosing to abandon the weapons I had been using until now.

But the reason I had decided to change weapons was because when I fought that man(fantasian prisoner) during the exam, I realised this body, my body seemed to be more suited to a sword style.

A katana style to be precise.

After me was Natasha. Just like in the novel she chose the rifle. Natasha had always been a talented shooter after all.

And just like that, the weapon selection process was over and done.
