A New Start

The female monster lay motionless, her many eyes flickering with confusion. She couldn't understand.

Her entire body trembled, not just from the electricity coursing through her but from something far worse, defeat.

Avasyu took a step closer, his glowing grey eyes locked onto hers.

"I know about your child."

The words sent a shiver through her fading consciousness.

"A child that feeds on our dreams."

He knelt beside her, his voice unwavering.

"A creature that would have been born only to devour our minds,to steal the futures that belong to us."

His grip on his machete tightened.

"I couldn't let that happen. I wouldn't let you take my dreams.

They are mine."

A stillness fell over the battlefield.

The hidden guards, who had been watching in silence, felt a chill creep through them.None of them could process what they had just witnessed.

A monster, faster than sound, had been utterly overpowered. By a child. And now, the unstoppable predator lay broken before him.

Then, without hesitation, the guards struck.

With their electric weapons, they launched a coordinated attack, slaughtering the remaining monsters. It was over. The mission was a success.

But as the last of the monsters fell, the guards couldn't shake the unspoken truth that hung in the air.

The guards rushed to Avasyu, their faces filled with disbelief.

"What was that?" one of them asked.

"How did you fight like that?" another added.

"Is electricity really your superpower?"

"Can you deflect any attack with it?"

Avasyu stood still for a moment, letting their questions settle. Then, he gave a slow nod.

"As I told you, I have superpowers."

His glowing grey eyes flickered in the darkness as he raised his sparking machete.

"Electricity runs through me. It deflects anything that tries to harm me."

He paused, glancing down at his own hands, as if feeling the power surging through them.

"And that... is why I was able to fight like that."

After all the talking, everyone made their way back to the facility.

As they walked, Avasyu felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His steps faltered, but he pushed forward.

By the time they reached the front gate, the chief and several guards were already waiting. They had received word of the victory.

The chief stepped forward and pulled Avasyu into a hug.

"I'm grateful to you," he said, his voice filled with warmth.

Avasyu nodded, appreciating the words, but fatigue clung to him like a heavy weight. His eyes grew heavy, and he couldn't stop yawning.

The chief noticed immediately.

"We'll talk in the morning," he said. "You've earned your rest. No alarms for you anymore."

Avasyu barely heard him. His body was already giving in.

Then he stumbled into his room, collapsed onto his bed, and within seconds,he was asleep.

There were no dreams this time.Just deep, uninterrupted sleep. For 24 hours, he didn't move. Not until his guard shook him awake.

Avasyu groaned, rubbing his eyes. They felt so heavy, as if he could sleep for days more.

His guard stood beside him, arms crossed, looking both concerned and amused.

"Are you okay?" he asked. "You've been sleeping since that night. It's been two days."

Avasyu blinked. "Huh? Two days?"

He yawned loudly, stretching his arms.

"Hooaah! I was just sleeping…" he mumbled. "Still feel like sleeping, though."

Avasyu sat up, stretching his arms with a yawn. His body still felt heavy from sleep, but his mind was clearing.

He looked at his guard. "What happened while I was out for so long?"

The guard crossed his arms. "The chief didn't say much, but I was worried about you."

Then he added, "However, now that you're awake, the chief wants to see you. So, get ready quickly."

Avasyu nodded and got up. He washed his face, freshened up, and dressed in a crisp white full-sleeve shirt,half-folded at the sleeves, paired with black full-length pants.

Once ready, he and his guard headed toward the chief's office.

As they walked through the facility, everyone they passed, boys and girls alike, stared at him. Some whispered, some simply watched in silence.

Avasyu furrowed his brows. Why were they looking at him like that?He didn't ask. He just kept walking. Finally, they stood before the chief's office.

His guard knocked and asked, "Chief, may we come in?"

From inside, the chief's voice came, "Yes, you may."

They stepped in.

The chief sat at his desk, scribbling something in a notebook, his eyes focused on the pages.Avasyu stood still, waiting.

The room felt calm, but something about the chief's expression told him this meeting was important.

The chief looked up from his notebook, his eyes meeting Avasyu's.

"Are you okay?" he asked.Avasyu nodded.

The chief leaned back in his chair. "I wanted to give you a reward for what you've done. But after discussing it, we've decided to offer you something more."

Avasyu raised an eyebrow. "We?"

The chief nodded. "Yes. Your guard and I."

"Since you've awakened your superpowers, we want you to improve them,to become strong enough to take down any type of enemy."

Then, the chief's expression became serious. "But before that, I need to ask you something."

Avasyu asked, "What is it?"

The chief's gaze sharpened. "What is your goal?"

"What do you want to do once you leave this place, with your new powers?"

Avasyu paused for a moment, thinking. Then he said, "I don't have a clear goal yet… but I want to help people with my powers."

Then, after a moment of hesitation, he added, "And… I don't know much about this city. So, I'd like to explore it."

The chief laughed heartily.

"Ha ha ha!"

" I knew you were an honest kid with a good heart."

His eyes gleamed with pride. "I see great potential in you, Avasyu. I want to see you reach heights that no one has ever achieved."

He leaned forward. "That's why I'm recommending you to the best academy in this city. You'll be admitted as a special student in the special class."

The chief studied Avasyu's reaction before asking, "Have you ever been to a school or academy before?"

Avasyu hesitated for a moment before replying, "No… I haven't."

The chief smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry. The academy you're going to is the best in the city. You'll like it. It will provide you with both education and training to hone your abilities and better facilities than us."

Then, he reached into his desk and handed Avasyu a neatly sealed letter. "This is your letter of recommendation, signed by me."

He leaned back in his chair. "You'll depart in two days. Until then, enjoy your time here as much as you want."

Avasyu took the letter from the chief and, without a word, turned to leave. His guard followed closely behind as they made their way back to his room.

As they walked through the hallways, Avasyu's mind buzzed with thoughts. A special student in a prestigious academy? It was a lot to take in. He glanced down at the letter in his hands, feeling the weight of the opportunity ahead.

His guard finally broke the silence. "So... how do you feel about all this?"

Avasyu let out a small sigh. "I don't know yet. It feels... unreal."

His guard chuckled. "Well, you better get used to it. Your life is about to change for better."
