Chapter 11

I slowly opened my eyes to see Burton's sleeping face before me, the dark circles under his eyes revealing his sleepless nights.

As I stirred slightly, he jolted awake.

He opened his mouth but couldn't utter a word, just holding me tightly, as if trying to fuse me into his very bones.

I gently patted his back and said softly, "I'm back, and so are you. This time, we'll never be apart."

I had slept for three whole days, during which Burton never left my side.

The nurse handed me our baby, a little girl.

While soothing our sweetheart, I listened to my husband recount the changes in the Stratton family.

Mrs. Stratton flew into a rage, kicking Delilah out of the city and demanding she return all the money Casper had spent on her.

That day, while I was playing with the baby, Burton came in and immediately took our daughter into his arms.

When she cried at night, he personally tended to her, quickly lulling her back to sleep.
