Chapter 8

Since Burton and I got married, we moved out of the Belmont family home, only returning on the tenth of each month for a family dinner.

The Belmont family has been incredibly caring towards me, even gifting me some company shares and properties in my name.

As a husband, Burton is simply flawless. He's attentive and considerate, always putting me first. The only time he shows a hint of dominance is in the bedroom.

His countless virtues leave me feeling somewhat overwhelmed. After all, deep down, I'm hiding a selfish secret. I dragged him into danger just to save myself, nearly costing him his life. Yet he still chose to spend his life with me.

Whenever I think about this, my appetite vanishes. I want to ask him why he married me when we had no prior connection, but my courage always fails me at the last moment.

I study Burton closely, feeling that he's somehow different since that incident in the water.
