Freeing the Captives

Sharon's POV—

We say animals are the mindless ones... but what about humans? Despite having a brain, what do they do?

"Who are you two? How did you come here?" asked one man.

"Who cares!! Let's have fun with them," yelled another. Don't they recognize me? Silver hair and red eyes are sign that shows a person belongs to the imperial family. Although, only one member is alive in the imperial family. That is me, the emperor. Knowingly, I didn't hide my identity. It was to show that I, their emperor, herself is here to save them.

Not being able to control herself, Maria started attacking them. She started firing arrows at them. All she could see was blood.

"AHHHH!!! MY HAND—"

"AHHHH!! STOPPP!!!"

"ATTACCKKK HER!!"

"AHHHH!!!!"

Screams of horror were bustling like leaves of a tree when a blow of wind graces them with their presence. They tried to retaliate but it was pointless. I didn't do anything and just watched the play unfold in front of me. Even black walls were dyed with blood.

Just as Maria was about to kill the final one, I stopped her.

Composing myself, I yelled, "Stop!" Maria stilled her movements. But her hands were twitching a bit. I could easily say that her hands were screaming at me to let them kill that in front of them. Maria turned her head and glared at me. 'Explain yourself' was the thing that was written all over her face.

"I understand your emotions but I need this man alive," I focused my gaze on that man, "I believe you must know where the other captives are."

He nodded frantically. "Yes!! Your Majesty, p-please f-forgive m-me. I-I will tell you everything." It seems he has already recognized me.

"Then show me where the other captives are held."

"I will show you! I will show you! Please don't kill me! Please!" pleaded the man.

My plan is to first completely free the rest and then, focus on the captives who are hurt. Just before following him, I assured them. "Don't fear. I am your emperor. I am here to free you all. So, I request you to please wait until, I free all of your captive friends."

With that, we followed after him. Along the way, I sneaked some glances at Maria. Her face was still full of anger.

Within a minute, we reached the cellar in which they were held captives. We started opening the cages one by one.

Kids, women, elderly... everyone was shocked at sight in front of them. I yelled, "It's me, the emperor of Charatshore empire. I am here to free all of you. From now you, my people, are all free."

They couldn't believe my words. All of them stood still as if, they were in a collective suspended animation.

"Is it true?" asked a little girl. I crouched down and patted her head.

"Yes. You are all free," I assured them. The little girl burst into tears and so did the others.

"Hey! Hey! Don't cry, it's alright now. You are all free. You can live your life freely. As your emperor, it's my duty to protect you all," some tears leaked from my eyes against my will, "I promise you that it won't happen again."

I don't know whether it's due to OG's influence or me, I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. We, humans, are the most intelligent species in the world. But we are also the category of species, that are capable of doing the most horrible and barbarous acts. To be honest, a section of human beings really commits that. They discard their humanity like it's some prostitute's tattered clothes.

"Long live!! Your Majesty!!" The now-freed captives started cheering and clapping loudly. Their cheers brought me out of my deep thoughts.

"Long live!! Your Majesty!!"

"Long live!! Your Majesty!!"

"Long live!! Your Majesty!! The Charatshore Empire!!"

"Long live!! Your Majesty!! The Charatshore Empire!!"

They were cheering and clapping loudly. Wiping my tears and rubbing my nose, I said, "It's fine. It's my duty." I thought that this would stop their cheering. Instead, they even cheered more loudly. Well, I can't do anything about this now, can I?

Now that it's over, I should focus on the original task. The reason of me being here. I glared at the man and asked, "Is there anyone left?"

The man stuttered, "I-I... y-yes... b-but y-y-you—"

"Enough of your stuttering! Just show me!" I ordered him. Not having any other choice, he relented.
