Sharon's POV—
Leaving Maria with the freed-captives, I followed the man. She protested against my decision but one word from me made her quiet. This concern of hers is due to my status or, she is worried about me... I don't know.
We reached in front of a cell. Unlike other cells, its bars were glowing yellow. I picked up a pebble and threw it at one of the bars. As soon as the pebble hit that bar, it got destroyed in a second.
The man said, "Anyone who touches this cell's bars, would get electrocuted."
"So, who can open this?"
"D-do you really w-want to open this?" asked the man with hesitation lacing his voice. I nodded in confirmation. I need to open this cell. The second heroine is kept behind these bars.
I hissed, "Open it!"
The man inserted the key into the keyhole, which resulted in turning the glowing bars into normal. He opened the cell with trembling hands.
I entered into the cell and saw a woman asleep on the ground. She had red hair with yellow tips at the end. Two fox ears were popped out from her head and a big furry tail was out from her back. Despite held captive for a long time, her body didn't show any signs of losing vitality. Her skin was unblemished. The woman in front of me was this world's second heroine, Kaerin Dtylwer.
Kaerin was the personal knight of Kelshin. She was his reinforcer... someone who dirtied her hands for him. The one who knew his true face behind his mask. She was the princess of the fallen kingdom, Demihripe Kingdom. Unlike the rest of the heroines, she neither loved him nor, had any love-hate relationship with him. She just submitted herself to him. Her reason was very obvious— 'I always align with the one who's the strongest.' She believed Kelshin to be the strongest in the whole. Why wouldn't she? In the novel, I made him defeat the 'Chaos Dragon.' The second strongest creature after this world's god.
If I play my cards correctly then, I would not only capture the first but also, the second would be also captured by me.
When I focused my attention on her again, I saw her raising her head and looking at me. Suddenly, she vanished from my sight. Alamred by this, I looked around for her presence my surroundings. The moment I looked in front of me again, a red blur attacked me. No, it didn't attack me. It grabbed me.
It was Kaerin. Her yellow eyes held a predatory gaze. She buried her face in my neck. I was astonished from this reaction of hers. At first, I believed she would attack me but, she hugged me tightly and buried her face in my neck. I squirmed with discomfort in her hold. I tried to push her away but she didn't bulge a bit. In terms of physical strength, she was away ahead of me.
"You smell... good. I want to... take a bit of you."
Kaerin whispered these words in my ear. Her hot breath stroked my ear as if, it wanted me to submit to it. Wait? 'Bite?' Did she say 'bite?' Is she going to mark me or something? My eyes widened in horror. Just as I was about to push her away, an arrow came from my right side, almost hitting her. Without even looking, she just caught the arrow. Releasing me, she looked at the perpetrator. It was Maria.
Maria's eyes held a cold glint in them. She monotoned, "Are you alright, Your Majesty?" I just nodded my head at her question.
Kaerin clicked her tongue in annoyance. She said, "It looks like we have an unwanted guest disturbing us." She kissed my forehead and walked towards Maria.
Kiss... did she really kiss my forehead? Ehh!! What happened to my emotionless heroine? Who is this woman in front of me? And where's my heroine?
'System!! Where is my heroine?'
[Calm down, Host. She is really Kaerin.]
'But wasn't she supposed to emotionless? Why is so... flirty?'
[...]
'System?'
[Think this as some kind of... alteration. This world is a bit different from the one in your novel.]
'What kind of answer is this?'
Before I could pressure the system for the answers, I saw Kaerin and Maria were getting ready to fight each other. The only thought that came to my mind was— fuck!
