Stopping Their Fight

Sharon's POV—

Kaerin's ability was— 'Perfect Defence Body.' This ability of hers was useful for both defensive and offensive. Her body hardens like a diamond though, her physical appearance appears the same. When coupled with her sword abilities, it's a recipe for disaster. Being as strong as diamond also helped her to win physical fights. While the name suggest that the ability is 'defensive,' it can be used in both the cases.

Maria shot two arrows at the same time. Kaerin just swat it away with her hands. For a moment, Maria's eyes widened, but it was only for a moment.

Magic and abilities.

These two things are the things which determine a person's strength in this world. Mana is the basic fundamental unit. While magic can be performed by almost everyone... ability isn't. Only a few gifted could possess an ability, and they are mostly nobles. Due to this, they think themselves superior to the commoners. But there are exceptions. A few commoners do possess abilities, like Maria.

Kaerin tried punching her but Maria dodged it, and fired another arrow. Judging by their faces, I could tell that they were serious. At this rate, they might even hurt themselves or worse, kill themselves. Not being able to wait any longer, I used my ability— 'The Herald of Disgrace.' It was an ability which helped me in stopping my enemies' attacks. It would stop any type of attack, be it physical or magical, given the condition... I should not have attacked them once. If used perfectly, it would even render my enemy immobile. Although, I would be immobile as well. So, it's like double-edged sword. Apart from this, I have two more abilities.

As I used this ability, Maria and Kaerin stopped moving along with me. Immediately guessing that it was my handiwork, they moved their heads simultaneously to me.

"Can you two please stop whatever that you are doing?" I asked them.

"Your Majesty, you can't be serious! This woman— touched you inappropriately." Marias's tone was full of anger. While I am happy that you are angry on behalf of me, I can't let you two fight each other.

Withdrawing my ability, I glared at her. I warned, "Maria, don't forget that I am your emperor and you are just my maid. Don't forget your place." I don't know what is happening but... I am the emperor. Yes, you are the heroine though, that doesn't give her the liberty to order me. Unless I allow her, she can't do anything.

"I am sorry, Your Majesty." She lowered her head as if, I was the one who wronged her. Hah, I don't have the strength to deal with this.

I ignored her sorry and instead, focused on Kaerin. Unlike the anger and resentment, which I felt towards Maria... I didn't feel anything for her. Kaerin is attractive and all but, I don't have neither negative nor positive emotion towards her. Basically, she was a stranger for me. And her attitude solidified it even more.

"What's your name?" I asked her.

"It's Kaerin Dtylwer, darling!" replied Kaerin, with a flirty voice. Maria's eyebrows twitched when she heard 'darling' coming out of her mouth.

"Don't call me that!" I exclaimed. My face heated up.

"But why?" she whined in protest.

"It because we are not close with each other. You call someone, 'darling' when you are close with them or, maybe love them. I don't like it."

"Then, let's know each other. I am Kaerin Dtylwer. I am fallen princess of the fallen kingdom, Demihripe Kingdom. I am also a knight. What about you?"

It's better to be on guard with her. Till now, Maria has behaved like I expected her to, minus the fighting part. Although, I can use this to my advantage. I don't need her to love me. I just need her to hate the protagonist, and my work would be done.

'I just need her to hate the protagonist, and my work would be done. System, am I correct?'

[... Yes, while it's not what I intended but, it could work as well. Although, I don't think this would work.]

'Why?'

[You will know when the time comes. So, for now focus on the scene in front of you.]

The system is correct. I can think about it later on. I focused on Kaerin once again. Unlike Maria, she hasn't behaved like the heroine of my novel. Her flirty tone is the complete opposite of her emotionless one. But isn't it to my advantage? I mean, if she is like this... won't it be easy for me to capture her first? What if she falls in love with me? She isn't lesbian, yet, this world is a bit different from my novel one. Finding this new profound idea to be plausible, I allowed her to call me 'darling.'

"I am Sharon Charatshore, the emperor of Charatshore Empire. You know what? You can address me as, 'darling,' when we are alone. In public, address me as 'Your Majesty.' Fine?" Kaerin nodded reluctantly, "Kaerin... you said you are a knight?"

She replied, "Yes."

"Would like to become my personal knight?" Wouldn't it be better if Kaerin becomes my knight instead of Kelshin?

"Yes!! Darling, I would love to serve you."

Hearing her words, made me smile instantly. I said, "It's decided then. From now on, you are my personal knight."

Kaerin cheered loudly. But what I didn't notice was Maria's reaction. If I had watched her reaction then probably, I would have pissed my pants.
