Cora said in her adorably childish voice, "Mommy, don't you remember? When we were in Paris before, Daddy mentioned that today is the anniversary of when he first saw you."
How could I not remember?
Why hadn't I heard anything about this?
Could I have forgotten at the time?
Cora giggled, "Mommy, you were busy taking photos then, so of course you didn't hear what Daddy said."
"That's right, Mommy didn't hear it, so how can Daddy blame me!"
I naturally felt that Asher was being unreasonable.
But then, Cora's next words made me feel a bit ashamed.
"But Mommy, you said you'd come back to have dinner with us today."
When Cora said that, I did recall saying that last night.
"Cora, it's so late now. Why don't you go to bed with Auntie, okay?"
After sending Cora back to her room and tucking her in, I still didn't see any sign of Asher.
I tiptoed, pretending to casually walk by his study door, peeking inside, but saw nothing.
"Looking for me?"
